The community also developed agricultural land which yielded crops such as corn and beans until 1915 when electric irrigation systems made these activities unnecessary and led to increased deforestation in the area; however, some trees still remain today around Douglas Cemetery In 1916-1917 residents built three stadiums that are still used today: Community Stadium (now RFK Stadium), Presidents Park (now War Memorial Stadium), and Colonial Life Fieldhouse (now Verizon Center). These stadiums were designed by architect Charles Bulfinch who was also responsible for designing Arlington's first high school – Fairfield School – in 1889 The modern day stadium complex was named after General Robert E.* Lee after he donated $10 million towards its construction
