On October 1, 1886 when Arlington Heights became a city it annexed much of what now makes up Manassas including most of the airport properties which are still part of Fairfax County government today as unincorporated areas adjacent to George Mason University's Campus Area In 1921, Arlington Heights annexing much more than present day Manassas Airport redefined its boundaries again when it included present-day Sterling Mill Stream Valley which lay between I-495/Ballston Road on the north side and Battlefield Creek on the south side; alluvial Fanshell Ridge lying between these two waterways; Loudoun Highlands lying east off I-495 on Loudoun Pike; and parts or all if not allof Present Day Anacostia River valley including portions or allof Point Breeze neighborhood now within jurisdictions controlled by Prince George's County while other portions remain within Fairfax County jurisdiction today The annexation also added much territory hitherto belonging to Loudoun Highlands including parts or allof Old Spring Hill neighborhood now within jurisdictions controlled by Prince George's County while other portions remain within Fairfax County jurisdiction today In 1970–71 zoning changes were made for apartment buildings along Midlothian Parkway from Grosvenor Lane in western Arlington Heights northeastward to Brentwood Drive in eastern Arlington Heights with an intervening street named after then President Richard Nixon . These developments continue into our current day with businesses currently situated along Midlothian Parkway either continuing onto Brentwood Drive or moving their operations closer to Ballston Road where they can access Interstate 95
