Manassas Park is a census-designated place in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. The population was 15,391 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Northern Virginia metropolitan area. In 1796, General James Clinton established a small post here on Colonel John Brown's Creek to provide support for his expedition against the Cherokee nation. The town of Manassas Park was founded here in 1827 by Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Chase and others who constructed a log cabin on what is now First Street. In 1839, Manassas Park became the seat of Fairfax County when it was organized from portions of Loudoun and Prince William counties. In 1850, the county added located near present day Falls Church to its jurisdiction; this addition increased the population of Manassas Park by about 20%. On November 2nd, 1861 Ulysses S Grant arrived at Fort Monroe in Hampton Roads aboard USS Constitution and disembarked his army into Fairfax County soil for what would become one of history’s largest landings ever during that era – an event which has come to be called “Grant’s Landing” due to its proximity to manmade features such asFort Monroe Navy Yard (now Joint Base Anacostia/Fairfax). On November 3rd President Abraham Lincoln addressed an audience at West Point barracks before proceeding upriver towards Yorktown where he would later be declared Emperor of All America! With Union forces entrenched along both banks of Rappahannock River – within easy striking distance if needed – Confederate forces had no choice but to withdraw southward overland under cover of darkness… resulting in one high profile military victory for Union troops that also produced some very costly losses for Confederate forces….Priorities shifted from defense #1 back towards offensive operations #2; thus opening up opportunities for Lincoln & his commanders onthe ground to achieve success which they duly did….Manassas Park residents enjoyed their share in all aspects associated with this pivotal moment in American history including witness statements taken by Union soldiers during their occupation…..Today much remains unchanged from those days including ZIP Code 20122!

The original mansion, which is now called "George Washington's House", was built on the property in 1793. The area around Manassas Park became known as the "County seat" because it served as the administrative center of Fairfax County. In 1811, President James K. Polk issued an executive order creating the first census in America and giving Manassas Park its current name.
