On September 12, 1871, the first shooting protection law in the United States was passed in Manassas Park, Virginia. This law required that all shooters wear eye protection when engaging in any type of gun use. The law also created a system for tracking offenders and providing safety to other shooters. In 1937, the NRA published an article entitled "Shooting at Sport: Protection of Eyes." In 1865, General Robert E. Lee and Confederate forces retreated from Manassas Park following a bloody battle that left over 50 dead on both sides. In 1876, the United States acquired the land in Manassas Park from the Confederacy and began development of the park as a public recreation area. In 1912, construction began on what is now known as The General's House, which was completed in 1914 and served as headquarters for the Virginia National Guard. On July 14th, 1944, during World War II, Nazi troops invaded Manassas Park and fired upon American citizens living in the park; five Americans were killed and 19 were injured.
Manassas Park is a community located in Prince William County, Virginia. The population as of the 2010 census was 36,898. It is part of the Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, DC-MD-VA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Manassas Park was named for General James Manassas, who fought in the American Revolution and died at the Battle of Fairfax Court House on October 21, 1812. The park has a long history dating back to early 1800s when it was part of Henrico County. In 1871, it became part of Arlington County and in 1932 it became a part of Prince William County. The community is home to many businesses such as Microsoft and IBM as well as several schools including George Mason University and Potomac Junior college. The first buildings in Manassas Park were built around 1800 by Colonel John Forbes naturalized U.S. citizen and landowner who purchased 640 acres (260 hectares) east of present day Manassas Park from the Powhatan Confederacy for $2 per acre ($10 per hectare). Colonel Forbes named his new community after General James Manasseh Colston who fought against British forces at Saratoga on October 21, 1812 while serving with militia under General Nathanael Greene during the War for Independence. At that time, Mansasses Creek ran through what is now Manassas Park and there were no public lands within its boundaries today except for some open fields that serve as recreation areas today. There is a long and varied history of Shooter Eye Protection (SEP) products. SEPs were first designed to protect workers in the firearms industry from life-threatening injuries, specifically those that could occur while shooting. Today, however, SEPs are used by all sorts of people who need to safely shoot at various ranges. The earliest known use of Shooter Eye Protection was in 1892 when two machinists working for J.B. Loomis developed and patented a system of eye protection called “Loomis” goggles. The Loomis goggles were initially made for use by machinists in the firearms industry and continued to be popular until the early 1920s when they were replaced by more advanced safety eyewear designs. In 1921, an American engineer named Harry Kessler filed a patent for an eye protection device that he named “Kessler’s Glasses”. The Kessler Glasses were designed to protect shooters from serious eye injuries caused by projectiles fired through lenses worn inside helmets or other protective devices such as gas masks or body armor. This type of eye protection became popularized during World War II due to the high demand for military personnel who needed to fire artillery and air strikes using close range munitions. In 1945, Rifleman magazine featured an article entitled “How To Use Your Gun And Shield Youself From Injury” which featured photographs and descriptions of Kessler’s Glasses along with tips on how they could be used safely at firing ranges across the United States. After the war, many companies began manufacturing new types of Shooter Eye Protection designs which included corrective lenses and electronic tracking systems (ETS). This type of ETS allowed shooters to track their targets with enhanced accuracy while wearingEYEP products at different distances from their target without having any fear that they would lose sight of it if it moved out of reach or if it changed elevation over time (such as during recoil). Many modern Shooter Eye Protection designs have been developed since then including grab bars on straps around necks so shooters can keep their hands free while firing; light shields that allow shooters see through them; modular design so users can change specific features according to their own needs; and even built into ammunition cans so shooters do not have tocarry extra equipment around with them when going shooting!
The first shooting glasses were designed in 1847 by George Stephenson. In 1892, the American National Rifle Association developed a model that was made available to armories and other shooting ranges. The original NRA model featured clear lenses with protection from eye fatigue and glare.

In recent years, however, Manassas Park has seen some revitalization thanks to both its location within Arlington County and its growing population of retirees.
Manassas Park was founded in 1795 by James Fairfax and is the oldest town in Virginia. It is located on the north bank of the Potomac River, about two miles east of today's Manassas Park. The town grew rapidly after its founding, and by 1800 there were over 100 residents. In 1814, Confederate General Robert E. Lee called for a meeting at Manassas Park to organize his forces following the Battle of Antietam. The park has been home to numerous events throughout its history including military encampments, fairs, and pilgrimages.
