The town of Manassas was founded on the site of the present-day town of Manassas Junction in 1874. The original inhabitants of Manassas Park were primarily Virginians who resided on the east side of Prince Georges Creek. In 1881, a group of soldiers from General John A. Breckinridge's army maneuvers at Manassas Junction and decided to establish their own village on the west side of Prince Georges Creek. On November 5th, 1881, the first stone for the new village was laid by Captain James Wylie with help from local farmers and settlers. The citizens named their settlement "Manasseh" after General Robert E. Lee's younger brother (and later husband). In 1904, following World War I, most residents left for good because it became clear that war would be a major problem in Fairfax County during that time period. However, some residents returned to live in Manasseh after they got clearance from government officials to do so. In 1922-1923, following plans made by then-Mayor Harry S Truman - who had come to know about munitions storage being done at Menasses Park - there was much speculation among residents about what could be done with the land once it reached its expiration date in 1923. Ultimately nothing happened with those plans but over time many important decisions have been made within Manasseh such as how to name streets and various public buildings like schools and libraries which still stand today! On July 4th 1945 Local resident Artemus Wardlaw led a peaceful march through downtown Arlington Heights calling for an end to World War II as he felt that America had become too powerful andToo rich for everyone! After meeting with several dignitaries including President Harry S Truman himself they eventually disbanded outside his White House! On September 14th 2002 local resident Bob Maguire set off two small bombs outside two restaurants - One near Loudoun Community College(near current day McLean)and another close to Stonebridge Road just north of Interstate 66 – both explosions resulting in no injuries however one restaurant sustained significant damage! Both bombings remain under investigation as this marks one of MANASSAS PARK'S most notorious crimes!

The current courthouse also served as the schoolhouse for Manassas Park until 1959 when it closed due to financial troubles. In 1966, however, it reopened as a museum and has since been used as such. One of the most famous residents of Manassas Park was General John Jervis (1785-1865). He commanded Ulysses S. Grant's army during the Mexican-American War and afterwards became a senator from Georgia before becoming secretary of war under Andrew Johnson in 1865. Jervis' familyowned land around Manassas Park which he donated to charity in 1868 and remains one of its largest donors today. One prominent resident during the early years of Manassas Park was Captain Isaac Hull (1793-1857), who owned land between present day Laurel Ave & I Street NW and reputedly built more than 100 homes there over several decades including many still standing today! Many interesting events took place here during this time including: In 1814-15, when Confederate forces besieged Fort McHenry; In 1825 when members of Congress met at nearby Mount Vernon; In 1830 when President James Ketchum erected his home on land that now includes Present Day Thornton Rd.; In 1835 when General David Hunter surrendered his army at Appomattox Court House; When wealthy businessman George Mason bought much of what is now Arlington County; and finally when Union general Robert Ewell surrounded First Army's headquarters at Fredericksburg while attempting to retreat northward following their unsuccessful battle against Jackson's US Army
