Gun Parts History in Manassas Park, Virginia began in 1837 when Captain John S. Fenton and his crew of the USS Constitution built a fort on the James River at Manassas Park. The original fort was destroyed by the British in 1781 but was rebuilt two years later. In 1837, Fenton bought 10 acres of land near present-day Manassas Park from George Washington to build a new Fort Totten. The first gun that was ever made at Fort Totten was a 12-pounder cannon named “Totten” aftercaptain John S.Fenton. In 1861, Confederate General Robert Ewell decided to move his army from Alexandria, Virginia to northern Virginia and encamp at Camp Nelson outside of Manassas Park. On April 14th, 1861, Confederate Lieutenant Colonel J Halleck ordered all artillery batteries within range of Fairfax County to open fire on Union forces located south of Arlington Heights Cemetery as part of Operation Crossroads. Between April 15th and 16th, 1861, over 150 rounds were fired from Cannon Street Arsenal without result. On July 1st 1863, Confederate General Jubal Early withdrew his army from Gettysburg after losing nearly 6 thousand men and seven guns along with many other supplies and equipment including 400 barrels of powder for every man he had available! The loss also forced Early to abandon his objective which was Plank Road Station only 24 miles north of where he had left his army! Theodore Roosevelt served as President Ulysses S Grant’s assistant secretary at War during World War I and became interested in gun parts history while serving in this role; unfortunately no records exist verifying what sources he consulted while making these decisions! After leaving office in 1921 Congress passed the National Firearms Act which created the Department of Justice which supervised firearms production! Today there are over 25 million firearms manufactured annually including over 15 million handguns!!!!! Manassas Park is a small town in Fairfax County, Virginia. It is located on the north side of the Manassas River and east of Arlington Cemetery. The population was 17,711 at the 2010 census. The town first developed around 1800 as a farmstead on high ground near present-day Manassas Canal. By 1825, it had grown to include a post office and two stores. In 1828, manors were purchased in what is now Manassas Park from Colonel Robert Ewell Johnston and his wife Elizabeth Bowen Johnston. They named their new home "Norton." In 1845, General James Longstreet's brigade camped overnight at Norton before moving onto Main Street for the Battle of Gaines' Mill that afternoon. For many years after that battle, Norton served as the headquarters of First Corps Headquarters during Army operations in Northern Virginia. In 1909, an addition to the original main building was constructed which became known as "The White House". It served as the home of Fairfax County Executive William Fenton until his death in 1961; then it was used by local officials until 1988 when it was donated to local schoolchildren for use as a science center. In 1940, Manassas Park annexed neighboring Arlington Heights; this annexation resulted in increased population because Arlington Heights had been detached from Fairfax County since 1919 when its boundaries changed following World War I boundary changes across Commonwealth nations (Alaska and Hawaii being two notable exceptions). At that point both communities were surrounded by single-family homes rather than subdivisions with multiple housing types available within each community like they are today within Fairfax County - another early example of suburban development The annexation also increased economic opportunities for residents because businesses within Arlington Heights could now offer services such as car sales and lawn care to people living outside their borders - something that wasn’t possible within Fairfax County at that time . Manassas Park is a census-designated place in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. The population was 28,088 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Manassas Park is straddling the border of Northern Virginia and Southern Maryland. It occupies most of what was once Prince George's County and portions of Fairfax County before those counties were merged into Loudoun County in 2008. The first settlers in Manassas Park were primarily farmers who arrived there around 1795 to plow and cultivate land that had been given to them by Lord Dunmore as part of his "New Acquisition" program during the American Revolution. In 1802, General James Ewell occupied Manassas Junction after its capture from British forces during the Battle of Alexandria Heights and renamed it for General Robert Ewell (1754–1831) one of his commanders during this battle. In 1803, following the outbreak of War between France and England over control of North America through the purchase from Spain by Napoleon Bonaparte of Louisiana, Colonel John Nicholson moved his family from rural Caroline County near Fredericksburg to what is now Manassas Junction in order to take advantage of governmental subsidies for farming here that Napoleon had offered as part of his purchase agreement with Spain. Nicholson's farmstead became known as " Nicholson's Gap ", which remained until 1909 when it was annexed by Arlington Heights . As a result, much remains unchanged about this early pioneer community including its original name or boundaries - just off Old Dominion Highway on Interstate 5 near White Flint Road today stands an impressive 2-story stone house built by Nicholson himself circa 1800 that still retains some elements from that time such as its boarded up windows (now open to view). In 1812 Major General Horatio Gates established Fort Buena Vista within present day Manassas Park while under orders from President James K Polk to protect Ulysses S Grant's army crossing the Potomac River en route to Richmond Campaign . After Gates' death in 1814 at Buena Vista , Lieutenant Colonel Lewis Cass took command and continued construction on fortifications along both banks of Mattaponi Creek until he too died suddenly two years later at age 43 – an event still commemorated each year on October 26th with a military parade down Mattaponi Avenue starting at Fort Buena Vista 's ruins before continuing along Greenbelt Drive past Headquarters Building ) back across Mattaponi Creek upstream towards Navy Yard . This wasn't done without incident as Cass' widow Harriot led a groupof women protestors against military presence outside their home even going so far as erecting tents inside ] prior to being arrested]. In 1861 Confederate troops under Brigadier General Braxton Bragg captured Fort Buena Vista while advancing eastward down Mattaponi Avenue after surprise attacks against Union forces near Fairfax Court House leading eventually to full-scale war between Confederate States Army & Union Forces resulting in over 50 dead along with Generals Daniel Boone & Ambrose Burnside [] In 1865 Pentagon was completed nearby making manassas park finally incorporated into virginia .....
