In 1814 General Robert Eager established a military post here called Fort Eager which served as Headquarters for US Army forces during the Mexican-American War and later became known as Washington Arsenal until 1865 when it reverted back to civilian control under US Congress jurisdiction. The Town of Manassas Park was incorporated on February 14th, 1871 by act of the Virginia General Assembly with a population of 572 residents. The first store opened in that year on Market Street just south of present day Arlington Boulevard/Route 1A (now Route 1). A post office operated here until 1911 when all mail was delivered through Alexandria then via steamboats across the Potomac River into Washington D.C.. During World War I there were several thousand patriotic Americans working at various munitions plants throughout Fairfax County but only 2% of this total employed men within our town limits; most work did outside our town boundaries at plants located outside our borders such as Stevens Point WI and Dayton OH etc… Most men who worked long hours were not paid very well so they could enjoy their hobbies or other pursuits while providing support for their families back home…. After WWI ended we began to see more people come into our town because they found jobs either running businesses or working in government buildings like schools and health clinics etc… And today we have over 10K residents living within walking distance of each other with easy access to shopping malls, restaurants and all kinds of services….. Our economy still revolves around agriculture although some businesses have moved away from farming due to changing market conditions many are still active in that field including: citrus groves (owned by Citrus Heights Incorporated), cornlands (owned by Ralston Purina) hog farms (owned by Tyson Foods), poultry operations (owned by Smithfield Foods), dairy production (owned by Cargill)…."

Some famous commanders who have lived there include Dwight Eisenhower, Douglas MacArthur, Neil Armstrong - both astronauts - and Admiral Chester Nimitz - Chief of Naval Operations during World War II and later Ulysses S Grant's Secretary of War during Reconstruction in America etc... In 1949 Manassas Park annexed neighboring jurisdictions of Prince William County along with Arlington Heights as part of a larger community development effort spearheaded by then VA Governor Albert Hughes called Cedar Grove which incorporated all three communities into one entity while maintaining separate legal systems such as property ownership, tax laws etc... Cedar Grove eventually dissolved in 1983 but portions remain within current Fairfax County while other portions are included within Prince William County today... Some notable landmarks located within or around Manassas Park include: US Army Rangers Barracks (1937), Arlington Cemetery (1944), Northern Lights Casino Resort (1963), Rucker Air Force Base (1981-1983), National Golf Links Course (1985-1987), Stonewall Jackson Presidential Library & Museum(1991-1994) etc... In total there are over sixty sites spread across nearly two square miles inside or around Manassas Parkway which locals refer to as "the park." Many local businesses also situated within or bordering manasses park such as Barnes & Noble bookstore chain; Jiffy Lube tire store; Starbucks Coffee Shop; Costco Wholesale Club warehouse;; Home Depot; Big Lots Supercenter; Dunkin' Donuts restaurant etc...

The Manassas Park neighborhood in Fairfax County, Virginia was developed between 1854 and 1865 by the Northern railroad company. The original name for the area was "Old Kenton" because of its location near the old Kenton Road. In 1892, Arlington Electric Railway built a line from Centreville to Manassas Park, which created new development around the railway station. On 1 July 1895, Prince George's County became a part of Virginia and Manassas Park became its first incorporated town.
