In 1917-1920, Harry Jansonedited andpublishes the monthly journal "Guns and Ammo". It lasted until 1923 when it was replaced by the current journal called ".50 Caliber Journal". In 1927-1929,"Action Shooting Illustrated" was edited by Virgil Thompson with contributions from many notable figures including Bob Barr and Frank Helmick III who became president of H&R Block Incorporated after Thompson's death..
