In 1925, Professor Charles Aitken developed an improved photoengraving technique called Lettering that allowed images to be printed on paper using two different colors: black and white. This allowed photographs to be distributed more cheaply because they could be sold in bulk without having to worry about color separation issues. However, lettering did not work well with portraits because the human face is too complex for printing in just two colors. So, in 1932, Kodak introduced the first digital photograph which used three colors: cyan (blue), yellow (green), and red (orange). This helped improve portrait prints by allowing them to have a more even distribution of light across their surface

Herndon, Virginia is a small town in Fairfax County, Virginia. It was founded by George Herndon in 1802 and became a U.S. state in 1959. The population was 27,191 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Potomac River east of Washington D.C., between Alexandria and Arlington Heights. George Herndon, an early settler in what is now Herndon,Virginia was born on February 4th, 1759 in England to parents William and Elizabeth (Porter) Herndon. He immigrated to America with his family on October 12th, 1777 aboard the ship "Providence". They landed at Dover-upon-Tyne and soon moved westward until they arrived at present day Herndon where they homesteaded land which would eventually become part of Fairfax County. The first school building in what is now Herndon was built in 1802 by George Washington Carver for himself and his staff as he traveled through the area looking for land for his new colony of blacks called Catoctin Valley Farms (later known as Fairfax). The first permanent residents of what would later become Herndon were white men who came overland from Frederick County during the construction of the Northern Central Railroad which crossed the Potomac River just south of today's intersection of I-495 and US 301/290 near Dunbar Station. These men were followed by more white men who purchased or leased land from local natives over time until all white settlement had ceased within a few miles of today's downtown area including parts of Upper Town including Today's Georgetown Cemetery! In 1835 James Fenton donated 2 acres (0 hectares) northeast corner lot on First Street NW to be used as a public square; this donation remains one of only two UDC campus squares still extant after more than 200 years! In honor of Fenton's gift we currently hold our annual Commencement exercises here every May! 2 months after its founding, Hagerstown College offered its first course: Moral Science! In 1865 it merged with nearby George Mason University becoming one entity known today as The University Of Virginia! Over time other schools have joined UVa including Randolph-Macon College (now McIntosh Community College), Christopher Newport University (CNU), West Point Military Academy (WPOA) & many others!!!
