In 2000-2001 Stonehill School reached an agreement with Fairfax County Schools to merge into their system effective January 1st 2001; this created one complex school system with nine schools within it - five elementary schools (Stonehill Elementary opened February 6th 2001), two middle schools (Clark Middle & Westside Middle opened November 15th 2002), two high schools (Harrisonburgh High & North Side High opened December 25th 2003) and one special needs school (Rocky Run Academy) which provides instruction through online technology only to students whose parents are unable or unwilling To attend traditional public schools because they live too far away or have other commitments outside Ofsted approved homeschooling programs/ ).
