The Gun Parts Museum in Fredericksburg, Virginia is one of the most interesting and well-known museums in the area for its collection of firearms parts and accessories. The museum has a wide variety of pistols and rifles from various periods, as well as cannons and artillery. The museum was founded in 1885 by Dr. John Ritchie, who was a local doctor and gunsmith. It originally occupied two building on Main Street in Fredericksburg. In 1926, the museum moved to its current location on Market Street in downtown Fredericksburg. The original building was built in 1825 by Captain James Bowie for his store at 5th and Main Streets in Fredericksburg. It served as the courthouse until 1830 when it burned down. In 1932, Dr. John Ritchie passed away and bequeathed his collection of guns to the City of Fredericksburg which renamed it "John Ritchie Gun Museum" after him. Today, the museum contains over 2,000 firearms part from over 100 years of history!

However, Lee's home town of Spotsylvania Court House still bears his honorific title as "General Armistead's Station." Charles Fenton built a small brick house on the site of present-day Fredericktown in 1819. In 1828 Jno. Denny erected a two-story frame building which served as the first courthouse in Fredericksburg. In 1834 it became the first post office in what would become Prince George's County when it was established at point where Harpers Ferry Road crossed York River and there were no public buildings then
