Falls Church, Virginia is a town in Northern Virginia that has been home to the U.S. military for over seventy years. The Military Installations Command (MIC) oversees more than a thousand installations across the country and Falls Church is one of them. It was here that America's first infantry rifle regiment, the 1st Infantry Regiment, was organized on October 15, 1898. The 1st Infantry Regiment was redesignated as the 3rd Infantry Regiment on January 1, 1903 and then again as the 2nd Infantry Regiment on October 15, 1942. The regiment was inactivated on December 14th of 1946 at Fort Belvoir outside of Washington D.C., after which it re-emerged as part of III Corps under Lieutenant General James Moseley during World War II until its activation once again on November 6th of 1944 as part of Ninth Army under Lieutenant General Omar Bradley during Operation Overlord. After World War II ended and I Corps became operational once again within Ninth Army under Major General Norman Schwarzkopf, the 2nd Infantry Regiment transferred from Third Brigade Combat Team (ABCT) to First Battalion (4th Marines), Fourth Marine Division effective February 24, 1945 at Camp Lejeune - North Carolina before being activated for combat duty surrounding Okinawa through late April 1945 when Japan capitulated following their attack against Pearl Harbor - ending the Second World War with an all American force behind Japanese lines! In 1951-1952 both battalions were re-equipped with M1 Garand rifles by Springfield Armory while stationed at Ft Benning Georgia before being deployed to Korea where they served until their return home in July 1960 having completed two tours there! In 1965 they were reactivated in Fallujah Iraq and served until 1968 when they returned home to Fairfax County VA! Today Falls Church remains a proud community sharing its history with both US military members who have fought here throughout history as well as visitors from all around the world who come experience this beautiful town which has so much to offer!

Many famous artists lived here including Andy Warhol (who made his studio on Avenue F4), Dick Vitale (whose house still stands), Jay Lynch (founder of Lynch PRODUCTIONS), Roy Lichtenstein (founder of Lichtenstein ARTIST CO-OP), Claes Oldenburg (founder of LEARN SALON) etc., among others In recent years many high profile musicians have moved into this area including Thom Yorke (), Lamar Odom (), Bon Iver (), Vampire Weekend (), Mount Eerie () etc., making FallsChurch one of the most active neighborhoods for arts production in Northern Virginia

In 1971, FallsChurch merged with neighboring Manassas to form Arlington County.
