In 1801 Fenton appointed John Taylor to serve as Colonel Commandant for both militia forces stationed within Fairfax County and for service with British forces stationed along the Potomac River outside its borders Additionally, Fenton created two new counties: Loudoun County northward to include Alexandria and Arlington Heights; Caroline County eastward to extend from Powhatan Beach on the Eastern Shore all the way through Highland Park into Westmoreland County near Williamsburg; while Prince Edward County southward including Fredericksburg increased its size by adding much-needed acres following captures by British forces during America's War for Independence (1812-14). This expansion led to growth pains for many small communities that were ceded their lands after independence but still experienced strong economic development thanks largely to transportation improvements made throughout these years such as roads built through dense forested areas now known as I-495 or I-66 corridors today Finally, when Congress passed an act designating National Roads System on July 1st 1825 it created 11 national routes across every state including ones connecting each rural town with its central market or airport/freeways providing quick access not only between cities but also between different types of agricultural production distant enough away from urban centers that farmers did not need railroads
The Fairfax County seat of government was first established in 1783, when the Colony of Virginia was organized. The original county seat was at Prince George's County, but it moved to Fairfax in 1832.
