The history of holsters in Fairfax, Virginia can be traced back to the early 1800s. Prior to that, holster leather was used for a variety of purposes such as protection from knife and sword attacks, as well as providing an accompaniment for swordsmanship. In 1853, the first holster company in Fairfax was established by John Simonds. At that time, it was known as The Armory Company. By 1861, the company had become J.F. Holsters and became a leader in the manufacturing of holsters for handguns and rifles. Throughout the late 1800s and into the first decade of this century, Holster Company employees continued to develop new products that offered users distinct advantages over traditional firearm holsters. In 1902, they introduced their now- iconic "Tailor's Bible" holster design - which allowed users to customize their HOLSTER specifically for their handgun or rifle (later renamed "Tailor's Gun Belt"). This innovative design soon became an industry standard and helped J.F. Holsters become one of America's leading firearms manufacturers - remaining so until its demise in 1978. Founded in 1836, the Fairfax Armory was one of the first gunsmiths in Virginia. It became a well-known and respected armory, known for its fine firearms and pistols. In addition to handguns, the Fairfax Armory also made rifles and shotguns. The armory was closed in 1944 but reopened in 1978 as part of the Gun Owners National Foundation.
Fairfax, Virginia is a small town in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. The population was 14,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. The town is named after George Mason, one of the founders of the United States and a major player in its early history. The first settlers in Fairfax were African Americans working on tobacco fields near modern-day Friendship Heights. The name "Fairfax" was given to them by General James Harnett during their Expedition against Mount Vernon in 1775 as a reward for their cooperation. By 1800, most of Fairfax had white landed owners and few black families lived there; however, some African Americans continued to work on farms and plantations until they were compensated by white landowners with land grants in 1821 and 1865. In 1814–15, troops led by Major General Patrick Ferguson burned down part of what is now Friendship Heights due to complaints from white residents that Native Americans were using it as an encampment for hostile Indians (the Potomac Indian Tribe). In 1870–71, when Congress renamed Arlington County after President Ulysses S. Grant's daughter Laura Armstrong Lincolnshire (1847–1925), many residents chose to move into Arlington rather than staying put because they saw more opportunities for education and job opportunities within the newly created county than within Prince Edward County where they had been living for generations. Many people who moved to Arlington also founded churches there such as First Baptist Church of Arlington (founded in 1872) or Our Lady Of Charity Parish (founded 1886). Today much of Fairfax remains rural with many homes built between 1910 and 1930 without any public transportation available nearby outside town limits; nevertheless there are several arterial roads running through town which make it convenient for shopping and commuting purposes as well as providing access to other villages around Alexandria including Herndon Street Mall which has multiplexes cinemas, a pet store etc., while still allowing easy access into town via exit ramps off I-495 southbound just east of downtown: these exits become increasingly difficult to miss over time since they are hidden among tall trees along Route 1A south of downtown: The townsite was once home to two large textile mills – Mayfair Mills & Textile Co., Incorporated (established 1912) and Montgomery Ward & Company (established 1916). After both mills closed their doors in the late 1960s due primarily to technological advancements made by post-World War II America – textiles became less important economically throughout most developed countries but have persisted here Despite this decline fortunes began changing somewhat starting about 1980 when local entrepreneurs started redeveloping mill sites into contemporary businesses including restaurants/bars/nightlife/shopping center etc.: this influx has seen some loss but overall increased housing prices which support more moderate sized communities like Fairfax today

Fairfax was founded in 1758 by George Fairfax, 1st Baron Fairfax. The town became a county seat in 1801 and an independent state in 1861. It is the home of the Virginia General Assembly, which meets in Richmond. In 1972, Fairfax County formed the Dulles-Fairfax Metropolitan Statistical Area to include all of Loudoun and Prince William counties and most of Arlington County. The area's population has grown rapidly since then, reaching more than 2 million residents by 2000.
When the first Europeans arrived in Fairfax County, they were met with hostility. The area was part of the Powhatan Confederacy and the native people considered them squatters who were taking their land without payment. The British military Landing at Botetourt Bay in 1775 helped change this landscape and after that time, Fairfax became a strategic location for British troops stationed in northern Virginia. In 1871, when Richmond was founded as an imperial capital by the British Crown, Fairfax became one of the counties within Richmond. In 1907, King George V granted it to America and it became an American state in 1959.
