With levers, shooters could now press down on different areas of the lever in order to fire rounds quickly and easily. However, while leverguns were efficient for small-scale combat, they were not very effective in firing large barrages of rounds at high speeds or distances. As a result,gun manufacturers began to develop new trigger mechanisms in order to provide better firepower for their rifles. One such mechanism was called an “manual” or “trigger-puller” trigger. This type of trigger involved using leverage (usually from fingers) rather than hands to activate the firearm’s firing mechanism

Grant to attack an detachment of Confederate cavalry under Colonel Joseph Hooker at Fredericksburg Heights; this led to the Battle of Fredericksburg which ended withLee's surrender on April 9, 1865 and his death four days later at Appomattox Court House. This event helped bring about the end of slavery in America and also gave rise to legend that General Lee buried his horses beneath peach orchards nearby when he first took up arms against the United States government duringthe American Civil War
