In Culpeper, Virginia, the manufacture of firearms began in 1792. The first gun cleaning kit was created by George Washington in 1795. The kit included a water bottle, brush and soap. Culpeper is a town in Prince Edward County, Virginia, United States. The population was 9,814 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Prince Edward County and part of the Culpeper Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded by colonists from Maryland in 1748 and named for General George Washington's home in nearby Alexandria. The first permanent settler in Culpeper was Nicholas Bourne, who arrived in 1749. In 1771, John Randolph built his plantation on Middle Creek, which became the nucleus of Culpeper Township. In 1801, James Monroe surveyed what is now Culpeper Township and laid out a road leading to it from Alexandria; this road later became known as Main Street. By 1830, all but a few acres of the township were within present-day Culpeper limits. Because much of Northern Virginia waspine forested during the early 1800s, many mills were erected along small creeks that flow through its boundaries; these mills soon competed with each other for market share and created an intense business atmosphere that continues to this day. One such mill owner was James Denny (the brother-in-law of George Washington). Denny began developing culvert systems to convey water from his fields into Townships downstream so that he could use his power saws to cut logs without having to go downstream himself; these systems are still in use today. In 1840–41, both Virginians and Northern Georgians participated in a general election campaign focused on securing state office for their respective candidates; as a result of this electioneering activity,. . . several new streets were name after officers or citizens associated with the campaign: First Street (for James Monroe), Second Street (for Edmund Randolph), Third Street (for William Hargrave), Fourth Street (for John Auld), Fifth Street (for Daniel Boone), Sixth Street (for John Brown). In 1851–52, when Abraham Lincoln won re-election as president by receiving more electoral votes than any other candidate over 21 years old—an event previously unprecedented—Culpeper experienced its first political excitement due to local efforts to demonstrate support for him either through parades or protests outside government buildings throughout Fairfax County or even beyond! In 1861–62 Confederate forces invaded Little Rockand destroyed most of what remained of central Arkansas before withdrawing back across Missouri River into Texas; accordingly., when Lincoln announced via proclamation that all federal troops must leave Arkansas within 72 hours because "the public mind may be changed" [sic], many residents quickly mobilized to move their belongings and household goods eastward across I-64 into Norfolk/Virginia Beach before retreating again under cover of darkness! A total estimated 3200 people left CulpePER during those two days alone! After Union General Robert Ewell's army burned Lexington & Concord two weeks earlier on April 19th 1865,[2] little changed regarding commerce or society inside or outsideculporatelimits until around 1870 when grazing rights were acquired by newly formed Arlington County adjacenttowhatisnowArlington National Cemetery[3]; thereafter Arlington become almost completely rural with only a handful scattered farms crossing jurisdictional lines anymore until well into the 20th century when automobile travel made farming increasingly difficult & alternative transportation methods emerged which continue today albeit at a slower pace overall due To economic stagnation etc.; nevertheless culpeerespresentatives have always possessed close proximity & communication thru phone calls whenever anything impacting our community arises especially thru various special events like annual Christmas parade

In 1911-12, work began on what would become known as "The Mill", which would become home to many businesses over time including two grocery stores and six churches until it closed down due to arson in 1978. In 1915, Culpeper residents voted to annex nearby Harrisonburg into their town limits and this action helped spur development withinculpeper over the next few decades with several large corporations moving into the community including JBL Industries (now Beats by Dr Dre), Comcast/NBCUniversal Cable TV service providers Time Warner Cable and AT&T Mobility becoming household names while small businesses flourished such as KFC restaurants and convenience stores dotting Dearborn Avenue throughout much of CulpePER's early history until competition from larger metropolitan areas forced some consolidation during both 2000s - 2030s but continue strong economic growth for most people living withinculpepers borders today

Culpeper was founded in 1698 by Captain William Culpeper. The first white settlers arrived in 1699. In 1750, the town was moved to its present location and became the county seat of Culpeper County. The courthouse was built in 1807 and is still in use.
