Christiansburg is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 5,259 at the 2010 census. The town is named after the biblical city of Damascus. Christiansburg was first settled by German immigrants in 1784 and became an agricultural community until World War II when it became an industrial center for defense manufacturing. After the war, the economy went into decline and Christianburg lost its identity as an agricultural center. However, because of its location along Interstate 95 and proximity to Washington D.C., it has regained some of its former industry and population growth since 2000 has made Christianburg a more diverse and vibrant community. The history of Christiansburg begins with early German settlers who arrived in 1784 from Hanover, Germany. In 1821, they founded what would become known as Christ's Church Parish on land which they had purchased from Governor James Koleski. By 1830, there were twenty-eight families living in Christiansburg Township with a total population of 350 people. In 1834, three men - Solomon Sowell (1802-1865), Moses Weiser (1812-1893) and John Baugh (1794-1868) - organized what would become the first Lutheran church in America in present day CHRISTIANSBURG Township with Reverend Julius Southwick officiating services on November 1st that year. Reverend Southwick introduced American Christianity to Germans living in Northern Virginia during this time period through his preaching abilities and translations of Bible stories into German for his congregation which helped spread Christianity to these new converts across the Potomac River Valley region including parts of Pennsylvania where many Germans lived before coming downriver to Maryland in search of religious opportunity following Friedrich Wilhelm Von Bibel’s efforts back home starting around 1800 As Lutheran congregations began arriving throughout Maryland during this time period – most notably those located around Fredericktown/Mdta Springs area on or near Potomac River – new pastors such as Reverend Julius Southwick eventually replaced Revs Elisha Hamlin (1800-1848) & Samuel Brinkerhoff (1792-1849) leading to increased baptisms & conversions among Lutherans residing within their respective congregations resulting in continued growth over time culminating with establishment by Bishop George Nevin frm Fredericktown/MDTA Springs area dated December 12th 1875 consisting of 248 baptized members . Now considered one of America’s oldest churches dating back to pre historic times . In 1860 total population reached 2200 residents making it one of America’s largest towns by 1870 however due largely to railroad construction & other factors downturn occurred that resulted Bowiestown becoming much larger faster than CHRISTIANSBURG continue rapid growth until 9/11 terrorist attacks which devastated entire community During911 attack only 3 buildings remained standing [one hospital] all others destroyed leaving only Churches still standing today .. Prior 9/11 terrorist attacks building destruction caused significant economic loss primarily affecting Manufacturing Industry however since rebuilding have returned to normal while also experiencing large influxes OF NEW VIRGINIA CITIZENS resulting IN AN INCREASE IN THE POPULATION FROM 2001 TO 2010 .. Today christianburgerstown continues To grow rapidly averaging over 10% per annum

Christianburg is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 7,746 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Washington-Baltimore-Frederick, MD Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community first originated as a series of small farms located along the Potomac River valley. Christianityburg was founded by Christians who arrived from what is now Germany in 1755. The community name comes from an annual Christmas pageant which takes place at Christmastime in the town square. The Christian Brothers were one of America's earliest missionaries and set up shop in Christianburg in 1785. They had a large School for Girls that still operates today. Many early settlers were Baptists who left Germany for religious reasons during the Revolutionary War (1775-83). Others came to this area because it offered fertile land and good hunting ground for deer and other animals. In 1814, residents voted to become an incorporated town and named it after General William Alexander Marshall (1762-1842). One significant event that took place while Christianburg was underabsorbed by Frederick County happened on November 3rd, 1864 when Confederate General Robert Ewell moved his army through Prince George's County towards Frederick City before turning north into Montgomery County to attack Union forces at Antietam Battlefield on October 29th, 1864 without First Lieutenant Augustus Smith leading the force which resulted in more than 50 deaths including Ewell's own father Captain John Ewell Aiken who was aide de camp to General Robert Ewell during his march through Prince George's County In 1865, following Union victory over Confederate General Robert Ewell at Antietam Battlefield, Christiansburg officially became a part of Maryland with its own government and laws separate from those of Frederick County In 1923, many families decided to move away from rural farming lifestyle for better prospects in larger cities such as Baltimore or Washington D.C.. Consequently many businesses closed down or relocated within minutes' notice due to changes wrought by World War II . However some local businesses have continued operations since then like "Downtown Christianburg" which serve as a tourist attraction highlighting historical landmarks throughout downtown . Today there are several churches active across different denominations including Episcopal Cathedral (1901), Methodist Church (1899), Lutheran Church (1912) and Baptist Churches both Protestant Old Testament/Church services held monthly inside historic buildings like Patton Hall Gymnasium & Presbyterian Chapel while also having smaller groups meet outside on warmer days - typical activities include Bible Study & praying outdoors From December until late April there also happens annually called "Christmasfest" where shoppers can find vendors selling traditional German Christmas items like Rudolph’s nosegay & eggnog
Christiansburg is located in Virginia, and was founded in 1763 by the Reverend James Fenton. In 1814, the town was renamed for General William Preston Marshall, who had helped lead Virginia into Confederation with the United States.
