At that time, Christiansburg was home to a detachment of the Confederate army and many soldiers were stationed nearby. One of the soldiers who used this weapon was James Hance. Hance had been born in Christiansburg and grew up there until he enlisted in the Confederate army at 18 years old. After serving his country for two years, he returned home to Christianburg and began occupying a position with the militia forces. While living in town, Hance came into contact with local farmers who needed help protecting their crops from Union attack. He offered his services and soon became known as a reliable advocate for military protection against Union forces. In 1907, another soldier from Christiansburg joined the Confederate army- James Witherspoon Jr.. Witherspoon had served as a private in Company C of the 33rd Virginia Infantry Regiment during World War I. After discharge from service, he decided to return home to join his family and begin anew life as a farmer. When war broke out again three years later, Witherspoon decided to enlist once more and serve his country on guard duty near Petersburg throughout 1917. During this time period, he came into contact with other officers who also enjoyed using guns while on duty. This experience taught him how important it was for soldiers like himself to be proficient with firearms so they could protect themselves should they need to do so face danger or threats posed by enemy forces! After World War I ended, many returning veterans settled down in rural America seeking new opportunities after experiencing difficulties during their wartime service*. In 1927*, Christianburg residents voted unanimously to annex neighboring County of Albemarle* following its annexation by Virginia state* . As part of this process, it was determined that churches would play an important role within our growing community * . It wasn’t long beforegun sling use within our community increased*. Slings continued being used by civilians as well as members of law enforcement when necessary throughout these early days*. By 1934*, rifle shooting contests were being held annually at various locations within our town* such as Fairgrounds Park*. These events attracted large crowds which helped promote outdoor recreation among our citizens* *. Gunslings continue playing an important role within Christianityburgh throughout these decades* *.

The city's nickname "The Friendly Village" comes from the fact that it has been home to many residents who have been friendly to one another since before Christianity began spreading through this area 2 centuries ago. Today there are over 900 churches affiliated with various denominations - most of which serve populations ranging from single family homes to large urban areas like Washington D.C.—making Christianityburg one of America's largest religious communities by far!
