Bristol, Virginia is a small town in Loudoun County located near the intersection of Interstate 95 and Routes 521 and 711. The population was 16,822 at the 2010 census. During the American Revolution, Bristow sided with Britain but ultimately turned against America due to their disagreements over taxation rates between Great Britain and America. This led to much tension between Bristowe's Loyalists and Patriots until finally peace was restored following victory at Saratoga Creek on October 11,1783. On November 1, 1785, Governor Thomas Nelson authorized construction of Fort Anne within present- day Bristol proper – one of only two Utopian projects authorized by colonial governors during the Revolutionary War era (the other being Jamestown). The fort served as an important military base until 1814 when it was surrendered to General Robert E Lee following his crossing of Rappahannock River without orders from Washington D." In subsequent years Bristol experienced many technological advances including becoming one of the first towns in Virginia to have water transportation available through steamboats beginning around 1835; also notable are buildings such as Court House Square which were built during this time period while still using traditional brick architecture instead of aluminum or stone faced bricklarx In 1865 Bristol began hosting annual Agricultural exposition called "The International Exposition" which became more popularly known today as World's Fair I
