Arlington, Virginia is home to a rich history of firearms and gun slings. The city was founded in 1781 by General James Washington as the capital of the new United States. It served as the capital until 1801. In that year, it was moved to Richmond, Virginia, because of its strategic location at the mouth of the York River. Arlington became a county seat in 1847. The current courthouse building was completed in 1865 and is one of the most beautiful examples of Victorian architecture in America. The first guns used in Arlington were muzzleloaders made from birdshot stock and called “fowling pieces”. These were simple devices that could be fired off a bow or using an arrow shaft sticking out of the end. They were used for hunting game such as deer and bear, but also for protection against Native Americans who may have been raiding their settlements. In 18th century America, there was no regulation concerning firearms other than what government officials felt necessary for public safety. This means that individuals could own any type of firearm they desired without fear of prosecution or infringements on their Second Amendment rights (the right to bear arms). This freedom allowed people to experiment with different types and designs of firearms, which led to development of modern-day shotguns and pistols (guns with barrels longer than 12 inches). From this initial experimentation came some very famous rifles such as Winchester Repeating Arms Company’s Model 1886 rifle and Colt Revolver Company’s Model 1851 revolver both designed by Samuel Colt himself!

Arlington, Virginia is one of the most significant cities in the United States. It was founded on April 14, 1775, by General George Washington and was named after Arlington County, Virginia. The City of Arlington was incorporated on December 15, 1871. As of 2020, Arlington had a population of over 158,000 people and is the second-largest city in Fairfax County after Manassas. The area that now makes up Arlington was first inhabited by the Powhatan tribe. In 1607, English colonists arrived in what is now Arlington County and founded the town of Alexandria. The town quickly grew into a major trade center with its location at the crossing of two important Indian trails. By 1774, Alexandria had been sycophantically called "the pearl from within" because it enjoyed such strong trade connections with both England and India. In 1775, General George Washington led an attack against British forces at Bunker Hill during the American Revolution. After this victory, many Americans wanted to name their new country "The United States of America." One idea for how to name the new country came about: Sir Charles Lee's suggestion that it be called "Lampkinsylvania," which meant "land belonging to James Lancaster." South Carolina Senator John Marshall offered his own proposal for how to name America on July 4th: "Erected upon Mount Vernon as a Monument to his memory—A National Cemetery For All Of Our Ancestors Who Died A Soldier’s Death or Brought forth Our Arms To Defend Our Liberties"—thus creating Arlington National Cemetery (now part of Smithsonian Institution). On October 16th, 1800 President Thomas Jefferson signed legislation naming Arlington County as one of twenty U.S._Counties Named After Men Killed In Action During The American Revolution—a designation that has lasted until present day! On April 14th (then spelled Angelica), 1775 – four days after General George Washington's initial attack against British forces at Bunker Hill – local residents voted to establish their own government under theirown laws rather than those emanating from London. This event marks one of history's earliest examples of self-government; indeed future presidents would follow suit with similar votes throughout much of America! Aftermath from Bunker Hill left many casualties including General Washington himself who sustained a serious wound in battle which required extensive medical attention Back home in Mount Vernon he ordered construction began immediately on an elaborate hospital complex known as West Point Hospital! Construction continued intermittently through out most parts OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION due largely to lack Of Funds But finally finished Spring OF1776 And became operational APRIL 14TH! west point Hospital served ALL ARMY IN AMERICA EVEN AFTER VICTORY At Battle Of Saratoga! waveland Dr lived THERE AT THAT TIME & Was So Impressed With West Point Hospital He Bought It outright later In OWN LIFE
The area that is now Arlington was part of the ancient town of Alexandria. The town was founded by Alexander the Great in 356 BC, and grew rapidly due to its strategic location as a crossroads between different sections of the Mediterranean world. In AD 1802, Arlington became a U.S. county, and was named for General George Washington.
