According to the 2010 census, there are 6 schools serving students within South Burlington: 4 elementary schools (grades K-4), Unity Academy School (5th grade through 8th grade) for grades 9-12; Stowe Middle School (9th through 12th grade); Pleasant View High School (13th through 16th grade); and Westville Senior High School (17th through 19th grade). There are also 1 private school: Sacred Heart Preparatory Academy which serves pre-kindergarten through 10th Grade; Holy Cross Catholic School which serves grades 11-12; and Saint John’s Episcopal Church which serve grades 13-16

South Burlington, Vermont is a town in Windham County, Vermont, United States. The population was 4,521 at the 2010 census. South Burlington is located on the Rutland River and north of Waterbury. It was originally named West Burlington but changed to its present name in 1892 to coincide with the creation of South Burlington Township. The town was first settled by farmers who arrived in 1784 from Long Island. By 1800, many of these farmers had moved to what is now South Burlington because of good land availability there. In 1812, North and East side streets were laid out through what is now South Burlington Township; this caused some problems because it made it difficult for people from other towns to get to their homes. The first store in town opened in 1814 and was run by John Morse. A post office was established here in 1827; it remained open until 1906 when it moved to Waterbury. One important event that took place during South Burlington's early years involved the incorporation of neighboring towns into Windham County on April 22, 1861; this happened due to pressure from commissioners appointed by President Abraham Lincoln to solve a problem with county boundaries. At that time, most people living within the newly formed villages did not think much of it because they felt their neighborhoods were already well developed and belonged to their respective villages rather than being part of a new county which they didn't even understand yet! The mills that were built throughout the late 1800s helped contribute significantly to the growth of South Burlington as an agricultural community - both men and women worked at these mills until retirement or move away after having children or doing other things full-time outside the home (like working at a local grocery store). Many residents also became involved politically during this time as many decided that joining forces with other nearby communities would be beneficial for their future – this included voting for members of Congress like Stephen Fenton who served as United States Senator from Vermont from 1903 until 1935 and then as Governor from 1937-1945. When World War II began on September 2nd 1941, many locals decided they needed more space so they started building housing – mostly single-family homes – which continued up until about 1964 when all those homes were replaced by condos/apartments thanks largely to factories that began coming online during that period called “the Machine Age” (thanks also partially to advances in engineering).

During World War II, South Burlington played an important role in providing munitions for Allied forces fighting against Nazi Germany. In 1954, Mayor Aiken unveiled what is now known as "Aiken's Law," which granted citizens many rights were formerly reserved only to state officials or business owners. South Burlington has seen significant revitalization over recent decades; however, some aspects of its economy have still not recovered from the Great Recession. One example is that property values are still far below their pre-recession levels; this has led to increased competition for jobs and limited access to affordable housing opportunities throughout much of South Burlington
