ArmaLite Corporation was founded in 1984 by legendary firearms designer Glen Cooley after he tired working on an unrelated project at Smith & Wesson Corp.. West Valley City, Utah is a city located in the Wasatch County of Utah. The population was 492 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Ogden-Clearfield, UT Metropolitan Statistical Area. West Valley City is bordered by Cedar Hills to the north and east and Pleasant Grove to the south. The climate in West Valley City can be classified as dry desert climate with hot summers and cold winters. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, West Valley City has a warm-summer Mediterranean climate, abbreviated "Csb" on maps. West Valley City was founded on November 1, 1876 by Brigham Young and his wife Emma Ward Young as a Mormon settlement near today's Cedar Hills townsite in what is now Wasatch County. The first store opened in October 1877 and within one year had become an important commerce center for Wasatch County with its own post office and school district. In 1880, Brigham Young appointed George Washington Smith as mayor of West Valley City after he resigned from his position as governor of Deseret News Company due to health problems; Smith helped establish municipal government there and supervised local businesses through ordinances passed during his term as mayor. By 1890, some 2,500 residents lived in West Valley City with about 350 businesses providing services such as grocery stores, banks (including First National Bank), churches (including Latter-day Saints' Temple Square Tabernacle Choir), doctorates (including George Washington Smith Medical College) and other professional degrees along with daycare centers for children up to 12 years old; three miles away from downtown were two small towns: Heber Cottage on US 191 northwest of towncenter which served mainly cattle ranching families until about 1930s when Air Force Base Weber closed down most civilian air traffic at that location; and Blanding Heights northeast of downtown where many ranchers continued living until after World War II when those areas became military housing developments operated by Defense Housing Administration administered by Regional Planning Staffs created under Executive Order 9394 called "Amber Cities". This paper will discuss certain aspects related to development around Cedar Hills Airport including residential subdivisions built after 1945 including Holcomb Ranch subdivision adjacent thereto eastward past airport property line into Airport owned land adjoining Airport Road; commercial uses existing on Airport Road while original buildings remain including a bank building used concurrently during early days of AAF when both airports were known simply as Cedar Hills Aerodrome; various infrastructure projects carried out since then including replacement or renovation of streetscape features such as curbside water service renewal/alteration for single family homes annexed to neighborhoods since late 1980s major expansion plans for entire western edge comprising more than 1 million square feet new retail space over last 15 years alone additional apartment units built since 1990s total acreage available for annexation purposes only 10% remains undeveloped

West Valley City was founded in 1847 by Mormons who came from Illinois. The town was named for the biblical west valley of Canaan. The original population of West Valley City was only 300 people and it grew to 4,000 by 1850. By 1880, the city had grown to 10,000 people and it reached its peak population of 30,000 in 1910. However, because of World War I and the stock market crash that followed, the city declined after 1920. In 1970, West Valley City became an unincorporated community outside of Salt Lake City. When California became a United States territory in 1848, many Mormons elected to move there instead, creating what is now DowntownWestValleyCity. In 1870, Utah Territorial Governor John D[ecember] C[hristopher]. Grant awarded the town to LDS leader Wilford Woodruff for his services leading the church's forces against an attack by nearby San Bernardino County Mexicans. DowntownWestValleyCity quickly became an important cultural center for Mormonism and its surrounding region due to its unique architecture and infrastructure. This included a large temple complex called The Great Temple at West Valley City that was completed in 1888 and remains one of the most impressive civic buildings in Utah today. Other major landmarks include Reid Park (named after LDS apostle Lorenzo Snow), Pioneer Square (named for a prominent early settler), and Christ Church Cathedral (built 1886). In 1969, Mayor Frank Benson proposed plans for demolition of several historic blocks within DowntownWestValleyCity due to concerns about their impact on future development patterns within the city limits. After public outcry, Benson backed down and announced plans instead for rehabilitationof these blocks into more sustainable modes of use that would preserve both their historical significance and current living conditions within DowntownWestValleyCity.
