In 1892, he married Cynthia and they started a store next to their home which became known as "The Cyclone" because of its many windmills that were used for grinding flour for food storage and selling goods. By 1903, Hinkle had moved his store to what is now Main Street and continued to operate it until his death in 1924. In 1954, WestJordan incorporated as a municipality with its own government In 1984-85, members of the LDS Church conducted a temple work party at Springdale Cemetery which uncovered an ancient stone tablet that read "The Lord your God will carry you away into His kingdom where you will be my people." This event helped spur development around Springdale Cemetery which has since become one of WestJordan's most popular tourist attractions due to its historical significance and impressive monuments
