West Jordan, Utah is a small town located in Davis County, Utah. The population was 609 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Ogden-Clearfield, UT Micropolitan Statistical Area. West Jordan is home to Brigham Young University and its main campus. In downtown West Jordan there are several shopping malls as well as a large school district which includes many smaller schools throughout the community. The early settlers in this area were Mormon immigrants from Ohio who had come to the Salt Lake Valley in 1847. By 1860, some sixty families had moved into what is now West Jordan Township and began to build homes and farms around Crossroads Village on the west bank of the Blue River. The community was named after President Brigham Young's home town of Liberty, Iowa; but most people here called themselves "WestJordanites." In 1871, when Brigham Young organized The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) here, he chose West Jordan as his headquarters because it was then one of only two places in Utah where LDS members could live unmolested without fear that their property would be taken away by secular authorities. Here young men and women learned how to read and write while living under tight government supervision; and here they also served full-time missions for God's kingdom on earth before returning home to start families. Today much of what makes up downtown West Jordan has been built upon or restored since those days: pioneer homes dating back to the 1800s still stand among them; Crossroads Village features an interactive historical museum with exhibits about local pioneer life; and Main Street offers lovely shops, restaurants, galleries, a library/theatre complex with multiple performance spaces and a children's play area complete with swings and slides!

As these barrels became more popular, they began to be adopted by law enforcement agencies around the world as well as by militaries.
West Jordan, Utah is a town in Kane County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Kane County were Mormon pioneers who arrived in 1847. They named their new settlement West Jordan because of the location on the western edge of Deseret (the name given to the region by Mormon settlers) and because they thought that this would be a place where they could find water resources for their crops. West Jordan's industry began with agriculture but has since expanded to include manufacturing and other areas such as real estate development. Some of WestJordan's most notable residents include former President Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy; NBA player Julius Erving; and entrepreneur Phil Knight Sr.. In recent years, WestJordan has seen an increase in tourism as it becomes known for its attractions including nearby Mount Olympus National Park, Monument Valley National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Aspens National Forest and many more local attractions.
West Jordan, Utah was founded in 1912 by the West Jordan Lumber Company. The town was named after the western bank of the River Jordan which flows through it. The company built a sawmill and store in the town, and soon other businesses followed. In 1916, West Jordan became a city.
