In 1911, John Wesson began manufacturing pistols in West Jordan under the name J&J Gun Company Ltd.. The company produced pistols designed specifically for self-defense and law enforcement purposes until 1935 when they merged with Colt Armament Company Ltd.. This merger led to some important changes within Colt Armament Company Ltd., which eventually became Browning Arms Corporation (BA). At BA, John Wesson resumed production of handguns (mainly revolvers) under his own name beginning in 1939. After World War II ended, Wesson again started producing weapons under his own name beginning in 1951 until 1986 when he sold all assets to Browning Firearms Corporation effective January 1st, 1987.* While various factors may have contributed to the inception or continued popularity of airguns across Utah during its history, including both common sense reasons such as fear of being shot at with large rifles or shotguns – nevertheless, airguns continue to play an important role here today! shoots regularly participates in local meets/events where members can meet other shooters from throughout the state together for friendly competition and enjoyment; * Note: It should also be noted that while I am aware that not every member participating at these events is an experienced shooter/airgunner myself*, nonetheless everyone benefits from having access to quality firearms knowledge shared amongst us all!
