Tooele, Utah is a city located in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah. The population was 14,521 at the 2010 census. The land that now makes up Tooele was first settled by people in 1847. Today, Tooele is known for its Target shooting championships and gun shows. Target shooting has roots in Tooele. In 1847, Thomas Dixon and his family started to farm in what is now Tooele. They were the first to use a rifle as a means of hunting game in this region of the country. over time, other families followed Dixon's lead and began to settle in present-day Tooele. The town of Tooele grew slowly until about 1930 when it experienced an influx of new residents from throughout Utah and Nevada who decided to move here because of its warm weather and opportunities for employment within the local manufacturing industry. during this time period, target shooting became popular among these new arrivals as a way to exercise their skills while also enjoying social activities that helped fill the missing parts of their lives outside of work or home life. Over time, target shooting has continued to be an important part of community life here in Tooele through tournaments hosted by various groups such as First Amendment Shooting Association (FASA), Western Shooting League (WSL), American Rifleman (ARL), Utah State Rifle Association (USRA) and more recently IPSC World Championships which are sanctioned by International Professional Shooting Confederation (IPSC). These events have brought together people from all walks of life from around the world who come together to enjoy excellent competition while having some great laughs along the way!

TOOELE, UT (April 12, 1859-May 14, 1938) was a town in Tooele County, Utah. The population of the town at the time of its incorporation was 1,452. The town was located on the banks of the Snake River and developed as a trading post between southern Utah and Northern Mexico. In 1907 it became an incorporated city. The town site was first surveyed by George H. Smith in 1856 and taken up for development by Nathaniel Lyon in 1857-58. On July 8, 1865, Company B of the Mormon Battalion arrived here from Salt Lake City and founded Provo as their new headquarters after what is now downtown Provo was destroyed in a fire that burned for two days. A year later wagon trains carrying goods to Provo crossed the Snake River at this spot and named the river "Tooele" in commemoration of this event In 1870 Brigham Young expressed interest in moving his people westward into what is now Weber County but did not succeed until he moved them here permanently with his families on April 6th, 1871 when they founded Salt Lake City proper When Brigham Young died on November 9th,,1887 parts of western Utah were included within Deseret News land grant which made Tooele one of many towns granted to him including Logan(88), Orem(89), Highland(90), Springdale(91), Centerville(92). Supposedly these towns were only given names because there were no streets or buildings then like there are today so residents just called everything by its original name without any confusion The first store built in Tooele was operated by Jephson & Son under license from John C. Fremont who had organized Wells Fargo Bank across the street from where First National Bank now stands . The first school opened here on January 3rd ,1868 under subscription from Mrs. Anna Ladd who also served as president pro tem for LDS Church . Over time more schools were opened including a high school (now known as Northwestern University) which opened on October 15th 1912 A librarywas established in 1916 which still exists today
