Tooele is a city in Tooele County, Utah, United States. The population was 20,821 at the 2010 census. The city name is thought to derive from the place where Haldi * Nuzi and his family lived, now known as Israeli town of Haifa.
Tooele, Utah is a small town in the US state of Utah. The population was 7,859 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Tooele River and has a humid subtropical climate. The name "Tooele" comes from the Hohokam word "tʻo·o·al", meaning " moist ground". The first known inhabitants of what is now Tooele were Paiute Native American people who lived near present-day Provo and Orem during the thirteenth century BC. An early settler was George Washington who founded White Sands Ranch in 1849 just downstream from today's downtown area. In 1861, Brigham Young founded Salt Lake City, south of today's downtown area and upstream from where Tooele sits. After Salt Lake City was founded, many residents relocated to Tooele due to its advantageous location for economic development as well as its relative humidity which allowed for fruit farming and other agricultural activities without irrigation systems. Today much of Tooele's commercial activity takes place along Interstate 15 and State Street including several large mall complexes as well as smaller businesses that are scattered throughout town. In 1907, the LDS Church purchased land east of Main Street in what is now downtown Tooele for use as an airport shifty fields airstrip used by both Civil Air Patrol (CAP) helicopters servicing David Condon Airport on Provo Hill above central Provo and USAF pilots practicing bombing runs over Ogden Field northwest of Downtown Provo when they had no choice but to fly over city limits while training exercises were taking place at nearby Davis-Monthan AFB northwest of Orem National Military Park; these operations continued until 1969 when all CAP flights within city limits ended after then UTAH AIRPORT closed their runway following construction of new I-15 northbound between Center Drive & Waddell Road). This airport site would become home to Beehive Mall before it was destroyed by fire in 2000/01 followed by redevelopment with later retail buildings housing community college students &ogenese families beginning around 2005/06 thru present day; today’s existing mall complex covers most or all original acreage once occupied by strip mining operations dating back to 1911 At one time there may have been more than one shopping center operating in this area (& perhaps others adjacent), although almost all extant buildings date from prior Shoppingtown project incarnation circa 1976 Today's downtown core dates back to about 1907 when Mormon pioneers arrived seeking religious instruction at Second Mesa Creek settlement northeast of town on Snake River Valley floorplan approximately . From here they built a modest cabin – still standing today - before moving westward across Snake River valley culminating at First Mesa Creek corner southeast Of present day Town lot line called Pioneer Square Although originally unincorporated, By 1912 it had annexed parts of Weber County including nearly every house bordering main street today except one residences on east side opposite Pioneer square which remain privately held through Dec 2016 despite numerous attempts made by public officials interested in owning them over the years failed due primarily because property owners refused access permission needed for infrastructure such as water lines etc.; even tho' annexation may have been unauthorized under current municipal laws

Tooele is a small town in Tooele County, Utah. The population was 3,553 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City– Provo, UT Metropolitan Statistical Area. It lies on the banks of the White River and its namesake stream, which forms a border between Tooele County and Weber County. The first Europeans to visit Tooele were two Mormon pioneers, John C. Fremont and George A. Smith, who journeyed down the river in 1847-48 as part of an LDS missionary effort to proselytize among Indians in what is now Wyoming and Colorado Territory. On July 24, 1858—the day after Brigham Young's death—a group of fourteen Utah Mormons led by Orson Hyde traveled upriver from Stansbury Ferry to explore what would become Tooele Valley when they discovered a place called "Tobermory" (now known as Indianola). They named their new settlement after President Joseph Smith's father-in-law, Abraham Lincoln Lewis; however, this name did not catch on with local residents and it was eventually replaced by Tooele in 1912. In 1861–1862 American Civil War veteran James Hartsfield built a sawmill at present-day downtown Tooele for producing lumber for buildings being erected throughout the territory during that conflict. The mill continued operations until 1967 when it became automated through introduction of computerized logging technology; thereafter it ceased production entirely and underwent preservation efforts that included moving it into storage condition before restoration began in 1984 which restored most of its original features including its 12 water towers with associated dams and power systems dating back to 1865 Today's downtown area includes several dozen businesses providing services such as retail sales and professional services such as architecture or engineering; restaurants run by locally ownedand operated franchises; movie theaters; convenience stores/grocery stores; bowling alley/residence hall complexes converted into apartments or condos; tennis courts (including two professional level tournaments each year); a large dog park adjacent to Interstate 15 where pets are allowed without prior reservations/puppy play areas are also available
