Springville also has a significant population of Native Americans who live on the Oquirrh Plateau nearby.

Springville also has a notable history as an early American manufacturer of musical instruments, such as guitars and banjos.
The first settlers in Springville were James H. Webb and his wife, Hannah. In 1847, the Webb family bought a small farm on North Temple Street. The Webbs raised crops and cattle until 1860, when they moved to what is now the heart of Springville. They operated a grocery store and post office from their home until they sold it in 1865. In 1876, the Webb family was replaced by the Marshall family when Samuel L. Marshall purchased the land that now makes up Springville from Uriah Bancroft. The Marshall family ran a grocery store and bank from their home until 1896; during this time, they also built a schoolhouse on South Temple Street. From 1898-1906, the Marshalls operated an ice cream factory on First Avenue in Springville before moving it to Seventh Street in 1906 and closing it down due to high demand for their product among local children. In 1907-08, Wm Atherton opened his restaurant on Main Street in Springville; this was one of the first restaurants in Utah and soon became popular with locals and tourists alike for its great food and friendly atmosphere. Many famous Utah politicians have had dinner or lunch at Atherton's restaurant over the years including Orson Pratt (1850-1914), Brigham Young (1846-1912), John Dallin (1861-1959), Heber C Kimball (1873-1947)and Harold B Smith (1920-2008). Atherton's restaurant closed its doors for good in 1978 but has been preserved as an artifact withinSpringville's vibrant community fabric since then!
