The first school building was built on the currentsite of City Hall in 1851. In 1862, the spring waterpower plant was built to supply drinking water for Springville and nearby towns. In 1880, Brigham Young organized The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) in Springville and began construction of their first LDS temple there. The Springville Temple is still standing and is one of the most recognizable LDS landmarks in Utah.
