Spanish Fork, Utah is a small town located in Carbon County, Utah. Spanish Fork was founded in 1847 by Mormon pioneers and has been the seat of government for Carbon County since then. The original settlers were mainly Mexican immigrants who worked on the farmlands around Spanish Fork. Today, Spanish Fork is a vibrant community with a population of over 900 residents. Spanish Fork was one of the initial settlements in Carbon County and was first established on the west side of the Little Missouri River. In 1847, Mormon pioneers began to settle in what is now Spanish Fork and started to build homes. By 1860, there were more than 100 residents living in Spanish Fork. The town was renamed Frenchtown after Frenchmen who had settled nearby in 1852-1853. At that time, many Mormons were working at Jepson salt mine near Springdale which led to the nickname “Salt City” being given to Frenchtown because all those people worked at Jepson Salt Mine rather than live anywhere else outside of Salt Lake City (the capital city). In 1870, when Carbon County was organized, Spanish Fork became its seat and continued to serve as such until 1959 when it became part of new Provo Township (now part of Cottonwood Heights). Today, Spanish Fork remains an active community with a population of over 900 residents and continues to play an important role within Carbon County.

Spanish Fork was first settled in 1847. The town was named for the forks of the Rio Grande, which were near where it was founded. In 1868, Spanish Fork was renamed Cedar City after Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In 1924, Spanish Fork became an incorporated city and remains so today.
