The town was founded in 1868 by members of the LDS Church who moved from eastern Oregon. South Ogden became a city in 1959 and has since grown to become one of the most diverse cities in Utah with a population of over 20,000 people. The history of South Ogden dates back to 1868 when members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) moved from Oregon to southeastern Kane County after experiencing great religious persecution there. After settling in what is now known as South Ogden Township, they began construction on a schoolhouse that would serve their new community. name for their new community was "Ogden." In 1870, South Ogden had just three residents; all were Methodists. However, by 1872 the community had developed into an established township with ten residents and two churches; one Congregational and one Baptist. In 1907, when Kane County was created from parts of neighboring Deseret and Cache counties, South Ogden became part of it as well becoming one of the most populous towns in the county with over 10 000 citizens at its peak! Today's skyline consists largely of high-end homes built during the late 1990s and 2000s boom period which have replaced older housing stock that lined Main Street throughout much earlier portions of its history. Asbestos contamination occurred throughout much older sections dating back to World War II when local mills produced asbestos for insulation purposes. Asbestos exposure led to numerous health problems among those living near these mills but also among workers themselves who often held lengthy exposures before developing any health issues including mesothelioma or other forms cancerous growths on their lungs! While some aspects are better than others given today's healthier environment within which to live (such as modern transportation options), many residents still struggle economically due to pollution levels that continue unabated even after years without significant updates or changes!

South Ogden, Utah is a town located in Ogden County, Utah, United States. The population was 2,836 at the 2010 census. The town was founded by Captain John S. West in 1854 as Fort Bridger on the south side of the Great Salt Lake. It became a small community around 1850 and was renamed South Ogden after Samuel Ogden (1814-1892), an advocate for Mormon settlement in the area. In 1882, South Ogdanigham became part of Provo City and then Provo City again became a Town in 1907 before it merged with North Ogden to form South Ogdensburg in 1968. The first Europeans to visit what is now South Olathe were Spanish traders who came through the area during the 17th century looking for trade with India and China. When they reached what is now South Olathe they erected a trading post called La Casa Blanca about 6 miles east of present day town center on Ute Creek near present day Brigham Young University (BYU). A few years later Captain John S. West built his own trading post here also known as Fort Bridger which he named after himself and his son John S.(1) In 1854 Captain John SWest moved his family from Independence, Missouri to build Fort Bridger on the south side of the Great Salt Lake when Brigham Young announced that he had found new land for The LDS Church to settle in eastern Utah. After many hardships (including being forced out of their home country due to war hostilities) Captain West's family arrived at their new fort on October 24th, 1854.(2) They were met by New Mexico Governor Manuel Armijo who gave them gifts including horses, clothing and tools.(3) Over time other settlers followedCaptain West's lead and began building their own homes and businesses along Ute Creek near today's BYU campus(4). By 1860 there were over 100 people living inFort Bridger.(5) By 1870 Fort Bridger had been abandoned due to lack of resources but it continued to serve as a military outpost until 1880 when it was replaced by Fort hitters Barracks which stood until 1915.(6) From 1880-1900 FtBridger served as an important training ground for Mormons recruited for missions throughout much of America(7). In 1898 President Lorenzo Snow issued orders ordering all troops stationed abroad be sent back home so that Mormons could settle within our borders instead of going off into wartorn foreign lands. This order caused many soldiers stationed at FtBridger to defect or desert; however these events did not cause our military outpost to close down but rather it morphed into what we know today as US Army Garrison #316(8). At this point things changed dramatically at FtBrigdeer because on Christmas Day 1800s Nauvoo Legionaries led by General James Mclntyre stormed the fort seeking refuge from Mexican forces raiding southern Utah villages.. Although successful in repelling most Mexican attackers numerically however 3 Nauvoo Legionnaires were killed while 9 others retreated back insidethe fort . This event resulted in charges againstMormon leadership being pursued by local mobs soon thereafter leading ultimately unto excommunication from LDS Church members... South Ogden was founded in 1847 by Mormon pioneers from Jackson County, Missouri. The town grew quickly and soon became a important transportation and commercial center for the region. South Ogden's location made it an ideal spot for the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad, which helped to spur development in the area. In addition, South Ogden played an important role in the founding of Utah School District #1 and helped to grow education opportunities in the area.
