The community has been around since 1861 when a group of settlers named South Ogden formed a rifle company and began practicing target shooting in an open field near their farmstead. Today, there are over 200 businesses that sell ammunition and firearms in South Ogden, making it one of the most popular tourist destinations in the area. The history of ammo can be traced back to 1862 when two groups of pioneers founded a rifle company called South Ogden Rifle Battalion. Soon after, they began practicing target shooting on an open field near their farmstead. This early gunfire helped create the foundation for today’s Ammunition industry in South Ogden. Over time, these pioneer shooters developed skills that have allowed them to produce high quality rounds for use with rifles and pistols across America. One of the first companies to jump into the ammunition market was Merrickuk Ammunition Company which was founded in 1871 by local businessmen George Wertheimer and Julius Merrickus. The company produced both shot shells and cartridges designed specifically for guns and shotguns. Their products were very successful and helped give Ammo its start as an industry. South Ogden, Utah is a town in Logan County, Utah, United States. The population was 5,090 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Logan–Lehi Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name comes from South Ogden Creek and its two branches: the North Branch and the South Branch. The creek flows through the central business district of town. Ogden was founded by Mormon pioneers in 1847 as a small station on the Great Western Railroad between Brigham Young's headquarters in Nauvoo and Salt Lake City. In 1850, it became an agricultural center with a large irrigation system that helped make South Ogden one of the most prosperous towns in Utah. In 1907, oil production began at nearby Anschutz Oil Field, making Ogden one of America's largest oil producing communities. The city prospered until after World War II when environmental concerns led to oil production being discontinued and job losses for local residents; however, new businesses have since reopened in downtown Ogden as well as elsewhere in southern Logan County due to growing population density and continuing economic opportunities

"South Ogden, Utah was founded in 1847 by LDS pioneers as a farming community on the eastern edge of what is now Weber County. Today, South Ogden remains a small agricultural town with close to 2,000 residents. The town's history can be traced back to when Mormon settlers first set foot in the area and began to build farms. Over time, South Ogden grew into a thriving community that support a large population. In addition to its rural setting and strong agricultural background, South Ogden has also been known for its vibrant nightlife, which is abundant in both local bars and dance halls." The early days of South Ogden were difficult for the Mormons due to persecution from other tribes in the region. However, with hard work and determination, they eventually established themselves as farmers and ranchers in this area. By 1850, they had started up two businesses - one involved growing corn and wheat while another ran a sawmill. This growth continued until 1857 when Brigham Young called out his forces against the Mexican government during the Alamo War. This led to heavy fighting between Mormon troops and Mexicans near present-day downtown South Ogdendale. As a result of this violence, many homes were destroyed or burned down within the town limits; however, most of these losses were soon replaced by new construction within months of their occurrence. During this timeframe there was also significant growth within the LDS Church itself - specifically around Temple Square in downtown South Ogden (now called Springdale). This temple was built between 1858-1860 following God's revelation through Elijah Snow via an angelic visit to Mount Carmel (now Partridge Creek). At that time it became one of only two such temples in America at that point - along with Nauvoo Illinois' Nauvoo House (later renamed Nauvoo City Hall) which similarly housed God's presence among humans during this time period After subduing Mexico following the Alamo War, Brigham Young ordered all Mormons living east of Salt Lake Valley must move westward into Utah Territory pursuant to "Deeds Concerning split families". Because much land still lay vacant east of Salt Lake Valley proper on what is today Weber County - including parts of present day South Ogdonia - many Latter-day Saint Pioneers chose instead to move westward into this newly acquired land rather than stay behind in Mexico where their lives would be under threat from neighboring tribes again. Consequently, by 1860 much of what is now Weber County had become part ofSouth Ogden Township Limits; although some areas – notably portions southcentral Weber County – remained undeveloped for years after annexation In 1880 another great event took place within our town when Methodists moved into what is now North Park Drive just northwest of Main Street; at this time main thoroughfare between East Village/South Park Heights/Northpark View/Wadsworth Heights & West Village/Westpark View streets became Methodist church property & continues as such today! It should be noted thatMethodist pastors first preached services here starting back about 1830 before moving their ministries further downrange towards First Ward Streetside locations later on!"
South Ogden was founded in 1847 as a Mormon settlement on the south side of the Salt Lake Valley. The town grew rapidly after Mormons arrived from Nauvoo, Illinois, and began to build their own homes and businesses. By 1860, South Ogden had a population of over 600 people. In 1863, Utah became a state and South Ogden continued to grow prosperous. The town even went so far as to host its own Expo in 1865. However, by 1870, South Ogden had lost nearly all its residents to new settlements within Utah.
