Today its economy is based largely on real estate development;[17] although manufacturing has also returned with four companies having their headquarters here—SouthJordan Aluminum Company,[18], Wacoal [19], Athersys Pharmaceuticals USA Inc.[20][21],[22], and Humble Semiconductor Corporation—it remains a major center of technology innovation due to its location near several big research universities: UO's School of Engineering & Applied Sciences (SESE), Rice University's Department of Mechanical Engineering (DMES), BYU's Marriott School of Business,[23], UTSA's Graduate School of Business Administration(GSBA).[24],"

South Jordan, Utah is a town in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States. The population was 5,839 at the 2010 census. South Jordan is part of the Ogden–Clearfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in what is now South Jordan were the Jicarilla Apache and their herd of three hundred Apaches who moved into the area around 1847 from Arizona. In 1860, Brigham Young decided to move the LDS Church from Nauvoo, Illinois to Salt Lake City so its members could find new land for farming and exploration. The Mormon pioneers arrived at what would become South Jordan on December 12, 1846 by wagon train from Nauvoo. One hundredesteads were set aside for Mormons in this area which became known as "Mormon Hill". A post office called South Jordan was established in 1868, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1902. It was then replaced by a railroad station named after John Fetterman which opened in 1886. In 1907, a group of families led by Orson Scott Card did an experimental farming venture near present-day West Valley City which became known as Springdale Farms; when it failed they returned to South Jordan and started anew with some additional acreage. This experiment continued until 1912 when they abandonedSpringdale Farms due to lack of success again followed by abandonment again until 1951 when it was purchased by local citizens and turned into an open space park named after Orson Scott Card where you can today see his experiments that failed but gave rise to agriculture here today! It wasn’t long before businesses cropped up here too with grocery stores opening up around 1920 followed by hardware stores soon after that as technology improved making production easier here on small farms we haverazed tractors across our fields turning these acres into productive farmland! Today there are several restaurants/bars/cafes dotting the downtown core offering a wide variety of food options all while keeping prices affordable for everyone!
