By 1860, over 50 families had moved into the town limits making it one of the most diverse communities in America at that time. During World War II, some residents formed an agricultural community called "Anglo Israeli" that grew crops such as corn, beans and peas while others manufactured munitions or worked at local military installations. In 1957 SouthJordan became home to The University of Utah when it merged with Brigham Young University (BYU). Today SouthJordan remains one of America's most diverse cities with nearly every major religion represented as well as various cultures from around the world who have settled here over the years..

In 1907, Winchester introduced its own system for attaching optics to firearms called "Winchester Optical sight". This system allowed shooters to aim their weapons using an image on a scope instead of relying on manual aiming.
