In 1830 she donated another piece of land totaling to create what is now West Jordan Cemetery (). Saratoga Springs started off as a small farming community with only a few homes and acres of land. Agriculture was the primary industry until about 1920 when electric generators began operating in Saratoga Springs which caused a rise in electricity prices that limited profits for many businesses. Electricity also changed the way people used their houses; before electricity most people heated their homes with wood or charcoal fires which took time and effort; after electric heating systems became available power companies could provide high priced services such as lighting up roadsides with lights during night hours so motorists could see where they were going without having to stop
