Ammunition production began Throughout the 1800s, but it wasn't until the 20th century that ammo became an important part of local life. The city's early days were a time of great prosperity thanks to its location on the Great Salt Lake. This gave residents plenty of opportunities for business and manufacturing. Ammunition products included shot, powder, bullets, grenades and cannon balls. By 1860, ammo had become such an important part of local life that citizens voted to make it their official export product. In 1865, Sandy was designated as the " Ammo Capital of America." This success led to further development in ammo production throughout Utah Territory. By 1870, ammo mills had been built in Provo (now Provo City), Logan (now West Valley City), Ogden (now Centerville) and Ephrata (now Atwater). Over time these mills produced millions of rounds of ammunition for use by servicemen and civilians alike. During World War II, ammunition production continued to be important in Utah Territory; however, this time around munitions were produced for artillery only instead of tanks and other military equipment. Consequently, Ammo became firmly rooted within American society during this key period in our country's history. After World War II ended there was a lull in munitions production before resumed just after 9/11 when newly formed American Gov't ordered all state armories to produce anti-terrorism firearms which necessitated increased demand for munitions even though they are not used directly for warfare purposes

Sandy, Utah is an unincorporated community in Kane County, Utah, United States. It lies east of the city of Provo and north of the city of Orem. The population was 1,534 at the 2010 census. On January 15, 1864, Mormon pioneers named Sandy after Lieutenant Colonel John S. Sandy who had led them to Salt Lake Valley in 1847. A post office called Sandy was established at this location on November 25, 1865; it was discontinued in 1896. The first store in Sandy opened on October 12, 1886. The first school district in Kane County was organized here on September 8, 1889; the first teacher was Mrs. Jennie Greenhalght. In 1912 a small dam was built along Cedar Creek to impound water for irrigation purposes; it became known as "Sandy Lake". In 1916 two electricians were hired by the county to improve lighting around town and new electricity came available soon afterward which made possible many more businesses opening up including a bank and several churches (St Thomas Aquinas/Anglican) while also increasing social activities such as dances and football games among others In 1922 four white settlers from Utah Territory attempted to establish themselves near Sandy but only failed because they did not have permits from the US government

Sandy is a city in Ogden County, Utah, United States. The population was 20,756 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area now known as Sandy was first inhabited by the Deseret people. The town began to be developed as a ranching community in the late 1800s and early 1900s. In 1912, a dam was constructed on the Jordan River and irrigation water began flowing through Sandy into nearby Pleasant Grove. In 1934, Sandy became an incorporated city under the name of Ogdensburg. In 1956, it merged with Spanish Fork to form Sandy-Spanish Fork-Ogdenville-Angle Park Township which continued to exist until it merged with Provo in 1998. One of Sandy's most famous residents was LDS apostle Orson Scott Card who served as mayor from 1984 to 1990 and also served as chair of the LDS Church's First Presidency from 1992 to 1994. Other well-known former mayors include Mayor Harold Brown (1981–1987), Bob Filner (1993–2001), Jon Huntsman (2007–2013) and Ralph Becker (2014–present). Sandy has two high schools—Canyon View High School and Alpine Valley High School—and three elementary schools: Canyon View Elementary School, Highland Heights Elementary School, and Roosevelt Middle School; all are located within its boundaries. Additionally, there are six middle schools: Alta Vista Middle School, Crestview Middle School, Garden Grove Middle School, Imperial BeachMiddleSchool,[2] La Vallee Intermediate/High school[3], West Valley Intermediate/High school[4], American Fork Intermediate/High school[5]). These institutions provide educational opportunities for students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade or for students who have failed other grades or have special needs such as dyslexia or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). There is also a charter school called Heritage Academy which offers PreKindergarten through 8th grade education outside of Sandy’s walls.[6]
