During World War I Rifle scope manufacturers played an important role providing vital engineering support for military munitions producers including Winchester Repeating Arms Company (Winchester) along with others such as Browning & Co., Haslinger & Co., Krieger & Sons etc. After World War I rifleScope sales slowed however they resumed growth thereafter aided by advances made in night vision goggles technology which had emerged relatively recently at that time making sniper rifles even more effective at long ranges while still using standard sporting ammunition types like buckshot or birdshot
