Roy, Utah is a town in Kane County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,232 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. Roy was founded in 1884 by pioneers who named it after Reverend John A. Roy and his wife Eliza Blythe. The town lies on the eastern edge of Kane County and is bordered to the east by Logan County and to the west by Weber County. The townsite of Roy was laid out in 1884 by members of the LDS Church who were traveling through what is now Kane County looking for a new county to settle in. The first settler in Roy was Wm C. Bachelder who built a log cabin on an east-west street called "Roy" which he named after himself and his wife Eliza Blythe (who later became Mrs. Brigham Young). In 1888, Jens Jensen arrived from Holland with his family and established Harmony Grove about three miles south of present day Roy on what are now Indianola Drive and Garnet Road. They soon began planting crops and started a sawmill which continued until 1907 when it closed due to bad luck with the weather conditions; however, it reopened two years later under new ownership with better management abilities. By 1910, there were over fifty dwellings in Roy with twenty-six businesses providing support for its larger population of around 600 people including timber trading, mills, blacksmithing shops, livery services and more In 1912 local resident Orville Hodge donated land totaling 3 acres northwest of present day headquarters building along Garnet Road for a local high school that would become known as Unity High School; this donation allowedUnity High School to be located within walking distance from most residents while still providing education opportunities for those living far away from town center In 1916 Roy had its first post office which opened under name "Salt Lake City". From 1916 until 1969 it served as both mailing center for all Kane County residents as well as being one of several receiving points for mail arriving viarailroads that crossed through central Utah during this time period It also served as home base for military units assigned to various deployments throughout World War I or World War II such as Headquarters Battery 9th Cavalry Regiment (Cavalry), First Battalion (Utah) 7th Infantry Regiment (Infantry) or Headquarters Company Third Battalion (Utah) 20th Infantry Regiment (Infantry) stationed at Sanpete Valley Airfield near Provo As such it played an important role not only during wars but also during times such as Thanksgiving Day 1941 when large volumes of mail arrived at the post office just before natural disaster struck Mount St Helens killing 57 people including sixteen children309

Roy, Utah is a town in Tooele County, Utah, United States. The population was 3,665 at the 2010 census. Roy was named for Roy A. Christensen, an early settler in what is now Roy. It was platted on December 12, 1875 by John Dutton and Wm. H. Whitehurst with the name of Christensen's farmstead - Christensen Ranch. In 1907 it became the county seat of Tooele County after it was relocated from Grantsville to its present site in 1909. The town started as a small agricultural community that grew around the Roy Farmstead on the east side of the Salt Lake Valley near today's Main Street and US-191/US- 29E (now US-91). The first post office opened in 1876; within a few years, settlers had erected buildings including a school and store. By 1880, Roy had grown so large that it became necessary to move the county seat to serve everyone who wanted it – Grantsville didn't have enough room for both residents and government officials! In 1907, when Tooele County formed from parts of Kane and Garfield counties,[1] Roy became its permanent capital; this distinction has been retained ever since.[2] The economy ofRoy has changed radically over time: first as an agricultural center dependent on raising livestock or crops for export; then as an industrial center focused on mining metals and other minerals; finally as a bedroom community for downtown Ogden during much of the 20th century before becoming predominately suburban throughout most of recent decades due to growing population density in Ogden and elsewhere outside Of Town limits (OWL). Although there are still some small businesses located hereabouts like retail stores (grocery stores included), services such as plumbing, entertainment (the local library is open until midnight), Auto mechanics etc., are all found throughout OGDEN where people work instead of living off their land like back then![3],[4],[5],[6],[7]
Roy, Utah was founded by Royce and Clara Young in 1912. The area now known as Roy was part of the Granite Mountain District of the Navajo Nation. In 1916, Roy became a town when it was given to the Navajo people by Congress. In 1940, the United States Post Office moved from Newcastle to Roy and it remains one of its only post offices today.
