Roy, Utah is a small town in the Weber County region of Utah. It is located on the Wasatch Front, about 20 miles southeast of Ogden and about 25 miles northeast of Great Salt Lake City. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. Roy was founded in 1868 by Mormon pioneers from eastern Nebraska. The first post office in Roy was established in 1872. The town grew rapidly during the early days of ranching and farming, with many people coming to work on large ranches or farms. In 1916, Roy became a city when it was combined with nearby Gordon to form the new county seat of Weber County. Today, Roy is an agricultural community with some heavy manufacturing activities as well. Some of the most notable businesses in town include Ameren Corporation's Earth Moving and Storage business; Wacoaltex LLC; Keminetics Inc.; and Cedar Communications Co., which operates several television stations in western Utah and southern Nevada.

The city experienced heavy racial segregation during the 1960s as African Americans were concentrated along white-owned businesses near downtown while Latinos resided in neighborhoods that were not accessible by public transportation or from eastbound Interstate 15. However, such disparities have since dissipated and both races live peacefully together today.
