In 1984, riverton became home to its own municipal government when it merged with neighboring Roysboro into one municipality known as Riverton-Roysboro Municipal Services District No 2 (RMR2). This merger allowed for more control over local services such as fire prevention and emergency response while also creating more opportunities for economic development within the community. Today, riverTON remains an active community with many businesses and residents engaged in cultural activities such as music festivals, art exhibitions, poetry readings and summer vegetable gardens
