Riverton is a small town in Tooele County, Utah, United States. The population was 4,392 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Ogden–Clearfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town began as a farming community on the south bank of the Green River in pioneer days. A post office was established in 1878, and by 1886 it had grown to include a store and five homes. In 1902, the town name was changed to Riverton after John C. Rivers, who donated land for its development. The first stores opened there in 1904; a school was built in 1907; and a railroad station was erected in 1909. The city of Ogden annexed Riverton in 1951. In 1957, an oil well drilled near West Jordan produced natural gas that led to rapid growth for Riverton; however, water supplies became inadequate as production increased and wells were reined back with caution until 1977 when municipal water systems were installed throughout the community aided by money from local businessmen Hyrum McGee (founder of McGee's Marketing Corporation) and Don Christensen (president of Christensen Electric Supply). In 1984 an artificial ice rink was constructed on Main Street which has become one ofRiverton's most popular tourist attractions since opening day Today Riverton remains an agricultural center with many acres devoted to corn, hay, wheat, oats, cottonseed oil and other crops; some 20 businesses are engaged in trade within its limits; several excellent schools offer primary education through eighth grade or above; three churches serve the community along with two beauty parlors open weekdays 9 am-3 pm

Over time, other LDS missionaries followed suit and began to settle at various points throughout eastern Utah Territory. By 1869, however, there were only five people living in Riverton when President James Kayser authorized construction of a road connecting this new outpost with Stapleton on the main branch of the Deseretnee River. The town quickly grew into one of eastUtah’s largest settlements thanks to its strategic location on both sides of the Great Salt Lake – an ideal spot for business and commerce because it was close to both mills and markets along the riverbank. The coming decades saw significant growth within Riverton as businesses expanded into new territory; by 1897 there were 19 businesses operating within radiusof 1 mile (1 km). In addition to becoming an important economic center, Riverton also saw rapid population growth due to immigration from Europe during this period; by 1910 there were more than 2200 residents living in town proper alone! This influx led to increased social tensions as immigrants competed for available jobs and housing; but despite these challenges,riverTON remained oneOf Utah’s fastest-growing towns throughout its prime decade Of industrialization! During World War II*, riverTON played an important role as a munitions production plant; providing employment for locals as well as workers from surrounding communities which helped support Allied war efforts*. While many aspects Of post-war life have changed since then (*suchas gentrification*),the core values that have kept riverTON thriving remain unchanged: self-reliance*and neighbourliness.* In recent years * several downtown storefronts have been taken over by high-end restaurants*, illustrating how staying true To those same values can be difficult but ultimately rewarding endeavor!
