In recent decades however, Providence has seen increasing redevelopment activity as well as efforts to establish a downtown district that would encompass all aspects of life in Downtown Providence (Downtown Providence Partnership). In 2013–14 (the latest year for which comprehensive data is available),PROVO population densitywas 1123 people per square mile (433 people per square kilometer). This compares to 846 people per square mile (309 people per square kilometer) in Salt Lake City proper and 775 people per square mile (291 people per square kilometer) in Lee’s Summit/Bloomington metropolitan area
