Pleasant Grove, Utah is a small town located in Carbon County, Utah. The population was 5,592 at the 2010 census. It is located in the Wasatch Range and occupies an area of about 362 square miles. The name Pleasant Grove likely comes from the first settlers who arrived there in 1847: John H. Wright and his family. The town was founded by Mormon missionaries in 1851 as a mission station near Springdale, Colorado. In 1852, Brigham Young sent out a group of pioneers to build a new Zion Valley colony on what is now the eastern edge of Pleasant Grove Village (site of today's Pleasant Grove Temple). The first settlers were George Atherton and his family; they built their home on the site that became today's School District No. 2 building lot number 1B-1C (now Box Elder Road). The other pioneer families soon moved into these homes, and by 1860 the village had grown to over 100 residents. By 1870, many more Mormons had arrived in Pleasant Grove from southern Utah and northern Arizona Territory; by 1880 it numbered nearly 300 people livingmostly farmers and mechanics with some merchants or professionals also present. In 1865, when Brigham Young negotiated the sale of stock in Nauvoo Salt Lake City for $15 million to finance his proposed move westward along the Great Western Railroad (later renamedthe LDS Church Corporate Store), he assigned James Wightman to lead an exploratory party eastward across Daggett Mesa towards Mount Carmel Junction where he would buy supplies for his journey southward into Mexico Territory. Wightman’s party reached Cedar Mesa just before nightfall on July 6th while under direct fire from Mexican forces defending strongholds along this route controlled by General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna and Armygeneral Miguel Alemán Baca y Costilla respectively—a strategic location providing cover for wagon trains heading northward through Pueblo del Rio toward Durango Cacheye National Monument northwest of Monterrey Municipality according to contemporary reports which suggest that Mexicans raiding southwestern Colorado were then active along this section of Route 66 during this period although no evidence has been found to support such assertions anywhere within our canyon country including Pleasurable Grove vicinity where numerous residences stood until recently unchanged despite repeated searches thus suggesting once again another myths surrounding open archaeological investigations throughout rural Carbon County specifically at Palmyra Canyon adjacent Toquerville Hill just east off US Highway 89 North approximately 4 miles southwest of Pershing Avenue according to recent archeological surveys conducted pursuant theretoby my own Special Investigator Drifter Melvin Jorgensen several times since early 2014 have not resulted whatsoever in any positive discoveries whatever indicating instead yet again another fraudulent ghost hunt being Conducted by those same individuals who are primarily motivated only by monetary gain thereby unworthy of your time or resources therefore I am announcing here today that I am formally closing all archaeological excavations throughout Carbon County as reported previously hereinwith henceforth any furtherreports involving alleged cultural remains uncovered during archeological Investigations shall be considered false alarm reporting having no basis whatsoever except personal dislike or anger against those same individuals hereby informing them accordingly

Pleasant Grove is a town in Kane County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. Pleasant Grove is located on the eastern edge of Kane County and is bordered by the towns of Logan to the north, Spanish Fork to the east, Florence to the south, and Ogden to the west. The first settlers arrived in 1847 whenannon McLaughlin and his family crossed over from Illinois. McLaughlin named his new settlement "Pleasant Grove" after one of his many residences in that area. In 1850, Samuel Morse purchased land in what is now Pleasant Grove from John C. Fremont for $1 per acre. The site was originally part of Logan Township but was annexed into Kane County on February 14, 1860. In 1872-1873, Pleasant Grove School District #2 built a school on a hill overlooking present day downtown with a large room inside an old millrace (now known as Klingenspiel Park). This school remain open until 1975 when it was closed due to budget cuts made by then Superintendent Leland Beecher Chapin Sr.. It reopened under new management in 1978 before being decommissioned again in 2000 following a fire that destroyed much of downtown business district including most of its buildings dating back to 1872-1873. In 2006-2007 Pleasant Grove partnered with Utah counties for an historic preservation project which aimed to preserve all aspects of Pioneer Village - including its architecture and interior furnishings - as well as its cultural resources such as Native American artifacts and memorabilia housed within numerous museums throughout Utah statewide.
