The DHS also began using pepper spray against criminal suspects in America's airports in 2006. In 2009, DHS announced that it had ordered 5,000 pepper sprays for law enforcement officers across America. Pepper spray is now being used by law enforcement across the globe, most notably in Africa where it is being deployed as a form of self-defense against militants and terrorist threats.

Pleasant Grove is a small town in Provo, Utah, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Provo–Orem metropolitan area. The community is located on the west side of Provo off I-15 and lies on a plateau overlooking the Wasatch Mountains. The name "Pleasant Grove" literally means "pleasant valley." The first settlers in Pleasant Grove were farmers who arrived around 1868. By 1905, there were over 100 families living in Pleasant Grove. In 1912, Pleasant Grove had its first school; it was moved to its present location in 1916 after being moved from an abandoned building near the edge of town. In 1951, Pleasant Grove became home to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). At that time it was one of only a few communities within LDS boundaries that did not have its own temple complex. A new temple was groundbreaking and dedicated on July 24, 1984 – later renamed Temple Square – by President Spencer Wightman with the assistance of his wife Kimball Wightman. In 2006, according to John Dvorak's book "Utah: A History", when Andrus Upson announced he would be running for Senate against Orrin Hatch in2006 it caused some concern among some residents about what impact this wouldhave on their local economy which depended largely on tourism and other service industries generated by Upson's senatorial ambitions

Because it had been pronounced "Pleasant Grove" since its founding, many residents chose to keep the name even though they received offers to change it numerous times throughout their years in town.HSU President David Richards announced on October 17th, 2006 that he would be retiring effective January 1st 2007 and will not seek reelection for president or as a faculty member at BYU–Hawaii School of Medicine following his current term’s expiration date but will stay on as an Emeritus Professor emeritus until his death on December 31st 2020 In November 2009 Pleasant Grove organized its first anniversary picnic which drew more than 350 people from around Utah including many government officials and local dignitaries such as Mayor Pro Tem candidate Darlene Harris On Saturday September 5th 2015 during park opening ceremonies for Centennial Park located off I-15 North just past milepost 269 what started out as an uneventful day quickly escalated when two groups - one group made up primarily of young adultsfresh off college campuses appeared to be taking advantageof what turned into what seemed like amateur hour law enforcement response when word spread about plans by one group (later revealed to be juveniles)to harass everyone attending the event with racial slurspolice presence quickly deteriorated resulting in arrests4 adults & 4 juveniles charged with disorderly conduct incident report says some participants threw rocks at officers Officers used pepper spray successfully repelling most rocks however 2 adults sustained minor injuries after being struck with rock while handcuffed
