The first settler in Pleasant Grove were George Harmon and his wifeAnn English who arrived in 1847 from England. They started a store next door to where they lived until 1850 when they moved out because of religious reasons but returned after a while to start another store which still stands today called "Harmony's". At that time there were only about 10 people living here including Harmon's father-in-law John Atkins who also came over as one of these pioneers with Harmon. In 1851, Ann died giving birth to their second child which also survived infancy but due to an illness George took his own life not long afterwards from what may have been caused from grief over her death or other difficulties he faced during this time period such as being accused of polygamy which he never practiced although it has been alleged he did so with some womenfolk within his family It wasn't until 1863 when Brigham Young decided to move the entire LDS congregation out of Nauvoo Illinois due primarily to financial issues caused by bad harvests followed by inflation that finally allowed them leave for all intents and purposes permanently for good leaving behind Harmony's Store where manyhappy memories still remain today among those who visit!
