Additionally, Pleasant Grove has been home to several popular tourist attractions including the Pioneer Cemetery which contains graves dating back to pioneer days; the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center which tells the story of federal explorer James Bridgwater Lewis and his team's exploration through what is now Pleasant Grove Canyon; and also the reconstructed LDS temple which was built between 1980-1984 at a cost of $5 million dollars alone.

Pleasant Grove rapidly grew due to its natural resources and its location on the Great Salt Lake. In 1870, Pleasant Grove became the first incorporated town in Utah. It continued to grow until 1915, when it merged with neighboring West Jordan to form a large city.
