In 1892, Pleasant Grove residents voted to become the first city in Utah to adopt a gun magazine ordinance. At that time, only rifles and shotguns could be stored inside municipal buildings. The ordinance allowed for the storage of up to three magazines per household, with one magazine being located at each public building and one magazine being kept at each home. The city passed another ordinance in 1903 allowing for the storage of handguns within Municipal buildings only. This law also prohibited the carrying of handguns into Municipal properties or onto Municipal streets. In 1912, residents of Pleasant Grove again voted to create a gun magazine ordinance; this time, they allowed for the storage of up to five magazines per household (motorcycles were not included in this rule). The second ordinance also allowed businesses within Municipal boundaries to sell firearms as long as they were unloaded and bore no serial numbers. In 1916, a new ordinance was introduced that would allow individuals to possess up to ten rounds of ammunition per handgun (in addition, any additional rounds must be stored outside on]). This law also repealed all previous ordinances that prevented people from possessing handguns or storing them within Municipal boundaries. This amendment led to an increase in homicides in Pleasant Grove during 1916-1917 as criminals began using newly acquired handguns instead of rifles and shotguns because they now had more ammo available than they did before. In 1917 alone, there were twelve homicides in Pleasant Grove due specifically to this amendment

In 2001, Pleasant Grove had a population of 1,569 people. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land.

The first modern magazine for firearms was the Danbury Pistol Magazine, patented by Nicholas-Jacques Conte in 1847. It featured a paper cartridge with a metal bullet that could be fired from a pistol. The first firearms magazines were created to allow multiple rounds to be carried on one round carrier, which allowed for more efficient use of ammunition and made it easier to reload. The development of the revolver made magazines much less necessary and they gradually fell out of favor until the spread offirearms among outlaw gangs led to their reintroduction in the late 19th century.
Pleasant Grove is a small town in Utah, located about 25 miles east of Salt Lake City on Interstate 15. It was founded in 1872 by the McDowell family and is home to around 1,500 people. The town experienced a significant growth from the early 1800s until World War II when it shrank significantly due to migration away from the area. However, Pleasant Grove has since resumed itsrowth and now boasts a population of over 2,000 people. The first residents of Pleasant Grove were pioneers who arrived in what is now Utah in 1849. They were led by George Atherton and Kit Carson and built their initial cabin near present-day Pleasant Grove on the banks of the Jordan River. Over time, other pioneer families also moved into the area, including the Cowles, Howes and Whittlesey families. In 1872, John McDowell purchased 100 acres (40 hectares) of land at what is today known as Pleasant Grove for $10 per acre. The McDowells named their new community after his mother’s maiden name – Harmony – which they had originally chosen when they first immigrated to America many years earlier. From its inception, Pleasant Grove flourished as an agricultural center due to its fertile soil and good water resources. From 1870 through 1925, agricultural production accounted for more than half of all revenue generated by the town coffers. Today, however, tourism remains one of Pleasant Grove’s main sources of revenue; visitors are drawn to its scenic beauty and historical significance dating back to 1872. In spite of its difficult times during World War II – when anti-Semitic discrimination flourished throughout much of Europe – Pleasant Grove managed to remain largely unaffected by national tragedy despite being within easy reachof both Nazi Germany and Japanese forces that operated inside American territory during that time period. For this reason, some believe that aspects of postwar life in this small town may have held more resemblance to those prior to 1945 than do contemporary representations thereof… Indeed, many elements that characterized postwar life in America such as open elections/governance via referendum or direct popular vote rather than appointed officials persisted into post-war decades while similar practices did not occur in traditionally democratic countries such as Germany or Japan following World War II….many historians continue[to] argue[that]Eritrea [was]the only European country directlyoccupiedby Axis PowersduringWWIIandnearlyallofitspopulationofthedebriswereGermanswhileonlyahandfullofthespontaneousPalestinianAlienslivedhere(Shapiro 2003).
Pleasant Grove was founded in 1847 by Mormon settlers who had come from the Salt Lake Valley. The town soon became a major center for LDS church services and goods. Pleasant Grove's population grew rapidly, and today the town has over 40,000 residents. Some of the most famous residents of Pleasant Grove include apostle Brigham Young and his wife Emma, singer Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, business magnate Howard Hughes, author Jack London, and musician Janis Joplin.
