Pleasant Grove, Utah is a small town in Kane County, Utah. The population was 553 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Ogden-Clearfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. The earliest known mention of Pleasant Grove occurred on November 3, 1847 when Elijah Woodruff and his party were travelling through Kane County on their way to Council Bluffs, Iowa. They camped at the site of what is now Pleasant Grove Elementary School on the south side of I-15 near milepost 54.5. A post office was established at Pleasant Grove on December 1, 1847, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1912. On May 17, 1861, Brigham Young organized a Latter Day Saint Battalion called The Prophet's Battalion from individuals located in eastern Kane County who had deserted or been discharged from Union army service during the American Civil War. The battalion numbered about 20 men and traveled to Provo to join Young's forces under General David Wells during the Battle of Cedar City against Confederate forces under Colonel John Crouch. When Brigham Young left Nauvoo for exile in Salt Lake City following the death of Joseph Smith on July 26, 1844, most of his people followed him to Ammon (now Orem) Valley where they founded Adam-ondi-Ahman temple shortly after his departure. In early October 1846 approximately 150 young Latter Day Saint women led by Emma Hale Smithtraveled 400 miles across country with 9 handcarts and 2 wagons carrying goods for temples construction that began in April 1847 at Wacquantum Hill east of Adam-ondi-Ahman temple. On September 21st1847 members of The Prophet's Battalion enrolled at Springdale Academy where they studied law until February 1862 when they left for Quincy (now Provo) River valley to help build Fort Bridger which eventually became Fort Douglas. At Fort Bridger church services were conducted each morning while military duty took place during afternoon hours; this arrangement continued until January 1865 when court martial proceedings ended hostilities between United States and Confederate armies. The first school building erected west of Palestine plat hereon was built by Geo Fenton around 1840 or thereabouts as an academy schoolhouse he used as his farm buildings today still standing .It is first mentioned on March 11th 1840 page 667 in deed book J Fenton 3rd chancery division . land adjoining given lot number 10 within township . Hiram Smith purchased it from Geo Fenton Feb 7th 1860 for $500 cash . Mr M Coombs builder gave instructions to have frame newly laid out appearance like present with additions made since then including addition of two stories later named “Hiram” & “William” Also new chimney built also inside today replacing old one which date back to 1830

However, after World War I began there were several waves of refugees from Europe who Tapiola ranchers wanted to hire as their workers on their farmlands but were turned down because of the high cost for housing and food. In 1927 Pleasant Grove became an incorporated community under the name "Reno". On July 15th of that year it held its first meeting with Wm Jenson as Mayor and Phebe Snow as First Vice President with Leland White serving as Clerk/Treasurer/First Trustee/Second Vice President). That same year Reno organized itself into three wards (Northwest Ward), one consisting of farmers east of Interstate 80 (Southwest Ward), and one including all west side farmers from what is now Pleasant Grove (northwest ward) through Cedar Hills (southeast ward). On November 14th 1928 Reno annexed part of Logan County which included present day Provo Township which bordered on North Logan Creek just north of today's downtown Provo property line; annexing much needed land for development purposes resulting in a population increase from 575 to 1,545 over the next decade or so making Pleasant Grove one of Utah's fastest growing communities ever! The annexation generated great press coverage throughout LDS Country because unlike other towns which ceded ground or lost citizens during various cycles of growth or decline like Heber City did following rapid wagon train traffic across sagebrush country during early 20th century gold rush days etc., Reno never relinquished control nor surrendered any municipal services or controls whatsoever nor allowed outside interests such as banks or oil companies to dictate how they should be run while retaining full autonomy within their own boundaries ensuring continued vibrant civic life even today! This unique strategy has largely been successful in maintaining peace and stability among competing groups vying for space within this rapidly developing cultural enclave known colloquially simply as "the city" - something quite unheard-of anymore especially given current day tensions around zoning restrictions & gentrification policies that have resulted in much displacement & impoverishment among lower income populations reliant upon open space resources & agricultural production etc...
