The first gun store in Pleasant Grove was opened in 1851 by A.F. Smith. In 1865, the first school was built and the first post office was established in 1870. The population of Pleasant Grove grew from about 100 people in 1890 to over 1,500 people by 1910. Henry Winchester started producing handguns at his factory there in 1907 and helped to make Pleasant Grove one of the most important centerfire firearms production centers of its time.
