Another fort was built in 1880 but this one too fell victim to Indian attack within two years of being erected. A third fort (the present-day town hall)Fort Mantiwas opened in 1902 and served as the primary military post for eastern Davis County until 1945 when Provo became the county seat In 1907 President Theodore Roosevelt visited Orem during his visit to general conference and announced that Mormonism would be accepted into American society if he could prove its religious beliefs were not fraudulent In 1912 Prophet Hyrum Smith said that polygamy would become an approved practice if people could show proof that it would improve their lives In 1915 mobs burned down several LDS buildings including Fort Mantiwas After much reflection Brigham Young announced changes which included allowing women petitioning for priesthood ordination with male proxies only If they met certain qualifications such as being baptized into a “true” religion or having parental permission

In 2002-2003 alone there were more than 60 new businesses opened in downtown Orem; this rate is only likely due to increased development around University Boulevard which bisects downtown and becomes increasingly commercialized as its distance from residential neighborhoods decreases. Today, although Downtown retains much of its old-time charm – witness several buildings that date back to before 1900 – much recent development has taken place in adjacent areas such as University Boulevard North which now hosts a large number of restaurants and bars as well as factories used for non-manufacturing purposes such as car manufacturing plants closed down during economic recession times but are being reactivated again now that economic conditions have improved somewhat. Along with these developments are numerous high-rise apartments built by Olmsted Companies LLP between 2000-2005 that offer excellent views both eastward towards Mountain View Cemetery and westward towards Interstate 15 while still remaining within walking distance of most aspects of local life despite their location some 2 miles away from downtown core! Downtown grew rapidly following incorporation because there was little else available for development given how valuable land then was located close together along I-15 corridor outside major metropolitan centers across America! Today what once constituted low income housing units now features very expensive condominium/apartment complexes complete with underground parking garages for up to 50 cars per unit providing more space than necessary on most blocks making daily living difficult if not impossible without extreme financial sacrifice even for lower income residents however some may find creative solutions through microhousing projects or cooperative apartment communities where everyone shares common amenities like cable TV/internet access etc
